Honda Unveils Innovative Battery-Powered Lawn Mowers At Equip Exposition 2024 In Louisville
Honda Power Sports & Products has introduced a new range of battery-powered lawn mowers at the Equip Exposition 2024 in Louisville, Kentucky. This lineup includes the HRX, HRN, and HRC walk-behind models, as well as a zero-turn-radius (ZTR) mower. These products aim to redefine Honda's reputation for high-quality lawn mowers by offering superior cutting performance and reliability.
The new battery-powered models will be available at selected Honda Power Equipment dealers across the United States starting in Spring 2025. The HRX-BV, HRX-BE, HRN-BV, and HRC-BE models are priced at $1,049, $1,299, $899, and $1,899 respectively. The ZTR model will also be available in 2025 with pricing details to be announced later.
Honda's decision to shift from gas-powered to battery-powered mowers aligns with its broader electrification goals. In 2023, Honda stopped producing its gas-powered HRX, HRN, and HRC mowers due to environmental regulations and changing consumer preferences. The new battery-powered lineup supports Honda's vision for a diversified product portfolio that enhances workplace performance while being environmentally friendly.
The introduction of these products is part of Honda's strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 through its Triple Action to Zero initiative. This initiative focuses on carbon neutrality, clean energy use, and resource circulation using sustainable materials.
The new battery-powered mowers incorporate advanced features for exceptional performance. The HRX-BV model includes the Select Drive® system for intuitive speed control ranging from 0 mph to 4 mph. It also features the Versamow System with Clip Director® for mulching and bagging without extra tools.
The HRX-BE model offers e-Select Drive® transmission for precise speed adjustments and an electronic Blade Stop System for convenience. Both models have a 21-inch NeXite® deck made from impact-resistant material that resists rust and corrosion over time.
Battery Technology and Charging Options
The new mowers are equipped with lithium-ion batteries that provide consistent power throughout their operating cycle. Depending on the model, they can accommodate one or two batteries. The standard 8Ah battery offers up to 30 minutes of run time, while optional 12Ah batteries extend it up to 45 minutes or more.
A standard overnight charging system charges batteries within 4.5 to 6 hours. An optional rapid charger reduces charging time by approximately 75 percent.
Innovative Cutting Systems
Honda's exclusive MicroCut® Twin Blade system is featured in all models. This system lifts grass blades before cutting them twice for a clean finish. The optimized blades reduce weight and drag, conserving energy while maintaining cut quality.
The cutter housing design ensures efficient grass discharge either as mulch or into a bag without leaving clumps behind. Large capacity grass bags are easy to empty, saving time during mowing sessions.
Durability and Serviceability
Honda's battery-powered mowers are built with high-quality components similar to their gas counterparts. They are designed for repairability rather than disposal when parts fail. This approach contributes to environmental sustainability by reducing waste.
The mowers come with comprehensive warranties: five years for residential use on HRX models; three years on HRN; two years on HRC; commercial warranties vary between models.
Zero-Turn-Radius Mower Features
The ZTR mower aims at improving efficiency in commercial landscaping while offering zero emissions and reduced noise levels. It features the MicroCut® Twin Blade system with multiple cutting edges for fine clippings without additional mulching kits needed.
This model provides maximum operator comfort through ergonomic design elements like adjustable seats and controls that move together seamlessly regardless of operator height or size differences among users.
Powerful Electric Motors
The ZTR uses five electric motors—three deck motors rotating twin blades plus two drive wheel motors—for precise control during operation even under demanding conditions like thick grass patches requiring higher speeds without compromising cut quality standards set by Honda over decades past experience manufacturing reliable equipment worldwide today still trusted globally now more than ever before!
