Honda introduced its latest Amaze model in India on December 4. The launch generated significant interest due to the unexpected features included in the car. The Amaze is touted to surpass its competitors in certain areas, particularly in features. However, a key question remains: does it outperform the Maruti Suzuki Dzire in terms of mileage? This article examines the mileage efficiency of both the new Amaze and the Dzire.
Honda Amaze Vs Maruti Suzuki Dzire: Powertrain & Mileage
Honda's new Amaze is available with a single engine option in India. It features a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine with 90hp and 110Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed CVT gearbox. Honda claims the manual version offers a mileage of 18.65km/l, while the CVT variant provides 19.46km/l.

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire uses a new Z series 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder unit. This engine generates 81hp and 112Nm of torque and comes with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Moreover, the model is offered with a CNG compatible powertrain option as well.
In terms of fuel efficiency, petrol manual variant of the Dzire return a fuel efficiency figure of 24.79km/l, whereas the AMT variant returns 25.71km/l. Moreover, the CNG variant of the Dzire achieves mileage figures up to 33.73km/kg of CNG.
That being said, the previous Amaze model offered mileage between 18.3km/l and 18.6km/l, depending on the transmission. In this regard, the fuel efficiency of the new generation Amaze has improved. Also worth mentioning is that the CVT variant now delivers up to 1.16 km more per litre than before, enhancing its overall fuel efficiency.
In terms of safety and mileage, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire excels with a five-star rating from Global NCAP crash tests and competitive pricing. On the other hand, the Honda Amaze shines with advanced technology features like ADAS, making it an appealing choice for tech-savvy buyers.
