Honda's Flagship 0 Series Saloon Wins 'Best Of The Best' At Red Dot Design Awards

Honda is celebrating another triumph at the Red Dot Design Awards. The Saloon, a flagship concept model from the Honda 0 Series, has clinched the ‘Red Dot: Best of the Best 2024’ award in the Design Concept category. Additionally, the Space-Hub, another concept within the same series, received recognition in the same category.

The Honda 0 Series was showcased at CES 2024 in January as part of Honda's global electrification strategy. The Saloon and Space-Hub concepts embody the ‘Thin, Light, and Wise’ design philosophy that will guide Honda’s future EV development. This approach emphasises a sleek form with a line rising smoothly from front to rear and a low, wide stance.

Toshinobu Minami, Managing Director of Honda R&D Co. Ltd's Design Centre, expressed his satisfaction with the awards: "We are pleased to be awarded the world-renowned Red Dot Award in the Design Concept competition, in addition to the awards we received in the Product Design competition in April. We designed the Saloon, named the ‘Best of the Best’, as a model that represents the major transformation of Honda, with the theme of achieving a 'resonance with the environment, society and customers' and with an original design that differentiates it from other models from the first glance."

The exterior styling of the Saloon is marked by its one-motion form and dynamic design. The upright side glass design creates an expansive side panel while narrowing towards the side sills to highlight the tyres. Inside, it features a simple human-machine interface (HMI) for a seamless user experience.

Honda's success at these awards follows their earlier achievements in April when they won four Product Design awards. These were for their EM1 e: electric moped, Motocompacto ultra-compact e-scooter, BF350 large-size outboard motor, and Miimo robotic lawn mower.

Commitment to Innovation

Minami further stated: "We believe these awards are the result of receiving a high evaluation both for the design and the new value Honda offers. We will continue to create and offer mobility products that bring surprise and excitement to people’s daily lives." This commitment reflects Honda's ongoing dedication to innovation and excellence in design.

The sporty styling of the Saloon not only provides an attractive exterior but also ensures a spacious interior beyond expectations. This combination of aesthetics and functionality sets it apart from other vehicles on the market.
