Hennessey Venom F5 Surpasses Speed Expectations With 219 MPH Half-Mile Run

John Hennessey, the Founder and CEO of Hennessey Special Vehicles, recently achieved a remarkable standing half-mile speed of 219.07 mph in his Venom F5 Coupe. This speed was recorded using Racelogic VBOX satellite telemetry and Dragy performance data. Test driver David Donohue also managed an impressive 221.92 mph during the same test session.

The Venom F5's performance was part of Hennessey's ongoing engineering development program. John Hennessey himself piloted the car for one of the runs, achieving a phenomenal acceleration from 100 to 200 mph in just 6.81 seconds. Engineers were surprised by the high speeds when they reviewed the VBOX performance data later.

Hennessey's recent testing update follows a YouTube drag race between a Rimac Nevera and Bugatti Chiron Super Sport by Steve Hamilton. The Venom F5 outpaced both cars, clocking 15 mph faster than the Nevera's 206.77 mph and 28 mph ahead of the Chiron's 193.67 mph over the same distance.

The Venom F5 Coupe is powered by a 6.6L twin-turbo V8 engine named 'Fury,' which produces 1,817 bhp on E85 biofuel. The power is delivered to the road via street-legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires. Despite less-than-ideal conditions, including a dusty surface and temperatures between 80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit (27-32 Celsius), the car performed exceptionally well.

John Hennessey expressed his excitement about driving beyond 200 mph for the first time during testing: "This was my first opportunity to pilot our Venom F5 beyond 200 mph while testing. I did not intend to go so fast, but I was not surprised as our hypercar’s power and acceleration cannot be described in words."

Future Prospects

The company has already built and delivered 23 Venom F5 Coupe, Roadster, and Revolution models to customers across the U.S. and around the world, with another 17 orders booked through 2024 and 2025. While all Coupe and Revolution Roadster models are sold out, potential buyers can still apply for a Venom F5 Roadster or Revolution coupe variant at HennesseySpecialVehicles.com.

Hennessey's team continues to push boundaries in speed and performance, aiming for even higher achievements in cooler conditions later this year at NASA facilities. The company remains committed to delivering elite-level performance on both roads and racetracks.

Record-Breaking Legacy

The Venom F5's track capability was confirmed earlier this year when a Revolution coupe set a new production car lap record of 2:10.90 at Circuit of The Americas (COTA). This achievement builds on its previous record of reaching a top speed of 271.6 mph during development.

Hennessey Special Vehicles has a history of creating world-record-breaking hypercars, including the Venom GT (270.49 mph in 2014) and Venom GT Roadster (265.5 mph in 2016). Today, they continue this legacy with their bespoke twin-turbocharged, 6.6-liter V8 Venom F5 hypercar lineup.

The company aims to build no more than 99 Venom F5 models to ensure exclusivity. All Coupe and Revolution Roadster models are sold out; however, some Roadster and Revolution coupe variants remain available for purchase.

For more information or inquiries about owning a Venom F5 model, interested parties can visit HennesseySpecialVehicles.com or contact Hennessey's network of U.S. and international retailers directly at +1 979-885-1300.

The latest achievements underscore Hennessey's mission of 'making fast cars faster,' as they continue to deliver unparalleled performance vehicles to their global customer base.
