Entries Now Open For The Prestigious 2024 Guild Of Motoring Writers Awards

Entries for the 2024 Guild of Motoring Writers Awards are now open. The awards ceremony will take place at the Royal Automobile Club on 7th December. The deadline for submissions is midnight on Monday, 30th September. Finalists will be announced in November, and eligible work must be published between 1st October 2023 and 30th September 2024.

The awards feature various categories, each with specific criteria and prizes. For instance, the AA Campaigning for Motoring Award offers £500 plus a trophy. This category merges previous AA awards and focuses on writing that advances campaigns impacting motorists, from road safety to environmental issues.

Enter the 2024 Motoring Writers Awards

The BCA Feature Writer of the Year award also offers £500 plus a trophy. It is presented for the best general feature by a Guild member, focusing on well-researched material that is both entertaining and informative.

The Bentley Editor of the Year award recognises editors who balance publisher demands while nurturing journalistic talent. Judges look for strong leadership and innovation in editing. Similarly, the Genesis Award for Automotive Technology Journalism rewards excellence in writing about engineering for both specialists and non-specialists.

The Gordon Bruce Classic Writer of the Year award, sponsored by Hampson Auctions, is given to journalists who excel in writing about classic vehicles. Entries should show extensive knowledge and enthusiasm for classic motoring.

Commercial and Motorsport Categories

The Iveco Industrial Commercial Vehicle Writer of the Year award focuses on features about commercial vehicles' latest innovations or their use in business. Judges seek fresh approaches to these topics.

The Prodrive Motorsport Cup recognises outstanding achievements in motorsport journalism or participation. The Prova PR Business Writer of the Year award highlights excellence in business media related to the UK auto industry.

Photography and Young Journalists

The Subaru Photographic Awards have two categories: General and Motorsport, each offering £250 plus trophies. Entrants submit a portfolio of six images taken during assignments within the eligible period.

The Toyota Young Journalist of the Year Award is open to those under 30, focusing on thorough research and well-crafted journalism. Additional criteria for this award will be announced later this month.

Additional Awards

Other awards include the RAC EV Journalist of the Year, which recognises outstanding electric vehicle journalism with a £500 prize plus a trophy. Entrants can only submit one article for this category.

The Sue Baker Journalist of the Year award, sponsored by loop, is given to the most outstanding performer among all category winners. The Suzuki Award for the Montagu of Beaulieu Trophy recognises contributions to recording motoring history in books.
