Gradient Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 Qualifies Ninth For IMSA Race In Canada

Sheena Monk secured the ninth position for the #66 Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 during qualifying at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The Gradient Racing team, which includes Monk and co-driver Stevan McAleer, aims to advance in Sunday's two-hour, 40-minute IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race.

The Gradient Racing team made significant adjustments to their car setup during the practice sessions before qualifying. These changes improved both speed and drivability compared to the initial setup when they arrived in Canada. Despite these improvements, the #66 Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 remains the only Acura on the grid for Sunday's race due to the absence of GTP cars.

Monk expressed her feelings about the weekend, stating, "Started off the weekend really frustrating and still felt that very much through the morning and heading into qualifying. I kind of just went out there with no expectations. I was really willing to put it a little beyond my comfort zone and was fortunate enough to put something decent together. We got squeaked out one position right at the end, but overall it was good. I had a little bit more trust in the car and I'm just building on that. I'm hoping for a good race tomorrow."

Acura Motorsports has a notable history at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park with seven previous victories in prototype categories of the former American Le Mans Series championship. The most recent win was last year when Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun led a 1-2 finish for Meyer Shank Racing, followed by Filipe Albuquerque and Ricky Taylor from Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti.

The first victory for Acura at this track, then known as Mosport Park, occurred in 2008. David Brabham and Scott Sharp achieved this milestone by winning the LMP2 class with their Highcroft Racing Acura ARX-01b.

The race promises excitement as Monk and McAleer strive to climb up from their ninth-place starting position.
