Goodwood Festival Of Speed 2024: New Cars, New Tech, More Fun!
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is spotlighting a variety of new vehicles this year, showcasing the latest advancements in automotive technology. Among the notable cars on display are the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, available with either electric or combustion powertrains, and the Alpine A290, a hot hatch with a powerplant from the Renault Mégane E-Tech.
Innovative Powertrain Technologies
Highlighting hybrid technology, BMW introduced the plug-in hybrid version of the M5, which combines a twin-turbocharged V8 engine with an electric motor. The Ferrari SF90 XX Spider also made waves with its impressive 1016bhp and a 0-62mph time of just 2.3 seconds.

Lotus showcased its Evija X, designed to challenge the Volkswagen ID R with an aggressive aerodynamic package aimed at Nürburgring lap records. Meanwhile, Land Rover presented its most extreme 4x4 yet, the Defender Octa, featuring a twin-turbocharged mild-hybrid V8 engine.
Concept Cars and Future Designs
BMW's i5 Flow Nostokana concept car demonstrated future e-ink paint technology that allows body panels to change colour. The MG Cyberster Coupe concept hinted at an electric successor to the MGB GT, potentially arriving in showrooms by 2025.

The Polestar Concept BST was another highlight, showcasing a two-seat track-focused supercar based on the upcoming Polestar 6. This vehicle emphasizes Polestar's commitment to high-performance electric vehicles.
Electric Vehicles and Performance
The festival also featured several electric vehicles (EVs), including the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric and Mini Cooper E. Tesla's divisive Cybertruck participated in the First Glance group by running up the hill. Toyota displayed a European-built hydrogen-combustion GR Yaris, offering insights into future performance cars.

BYD's luxury hypercar, the U9, was another standout at Goodwood, demonstrating BYD's capabilities in high-end electric mobility. The Red Bull RB17, designed by Adrian Newey and celebrating Red Bull's 20 years in Formula 1, was unveiled at the event.
