Goodwood Festival Of Speed 2024: Legends, Supercars, And Racing Thrills Await
The Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard is set to begin next week, from Thursday 11 to Sunday 14 July. Global car brands and manufacturers will unveil their latest projects in the Supercar and First Glance Paddocks presented by heycar on Thursday. Williams F1 driver Alex Albon and Alpine Academy driver Kush Maini will take to the Hill.
As the Goodwood Estate gears up for the Festival of Speed, here's a preview of what attendees can expect. The Central Feature this year will highlight MG, celebrating its centenary with Gerry Judah’s monumental sculpture showcasing the Cyberster, which debuted at the 2023 event.
The Festival will host the world debut of the RB17 Hypercar designed by Adrian Newey on Friday morning. Oracle Red Bull Racing will also celebrate two decades in Formula 1 throughout the weekend. Fans can watch Max Verstappen, Sergio Pérez, Christian Horner, and former drivers like David Coulthard and Mark Webber in action on Sunday.
Richard Petty, a regular at the Festival of Speed, returns as his family celebrates 75 years in motorsport. The seven-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion will be honoured with a balcony moment on Friday alongside his famous 1970 Plymouth Superbird driven by Kyle Petty.
This year’s event offers extraordinary access to cars, bikes, drivers, riders, and teams away from race pressures. Six Formula 1 teams are confirmed: BWT Alpine F1 Team, Scuderia Ferrari HP, McLaren Formula 1 Team, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, Oracle Red Bull Racing, and Williams Racing.
On Saturday, Michael Dunlop, the most successful Isle of Man TT rider in history, will be honoured with a balcony moment. Additionally, F1 stars like Alex Albon, Fernando Alonso, Logan Sargeant, and Yuki Tsunoda will join the event. Alpine’s junior drivers Kush Maini, Sophia Flörsch and Jack Doohan will also participate in the hillclimb.
Shootout Sunday
The hillclimb is an iconic feature of the Festival of Speed. On Sunday, renowned drivers and cars will compete to set the fastest time up the hill and attempt to beat Max Chilton’s record from 2022.
The Iron Dames return for 2024 with Célia Martin and Karen Gaillard driving the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo 2 up the Hill for the first time. Sarah Rumeau and Julie Amblard will run their Ford Fiesta Rally2 through Goodwood’s Forest Rally Stage.
World-Exclusives
Global marques are set to debut their latest projects in the Supercar and First Glance Paddocks presented by heycar. Public debuts include Defender Octa, BMW M4 CS, BMW XM Label Red, BYD Seal U DM-I and Yangwang U8. Many other marques are keeping their projects under wraps for now.
The Cartier Style et Luxe Lawn offers a contrast to the hillclimb's excitement. It showcases some of the most intriguing vehicles in a concours d’elegance setting. This year’s classes include vintage tractors, Bugatti Type 57s, beach cars, Silver Ghosts, Marcello Gandini designs and Pagani models. Judging takes place on Sunday afternoon.
FOS TechFuture Lab
The Future Lab presented by Randox returns for its seventh year with a theme of ‘Technology for a Better World’. Exhibitors are grouped into four sub-themes: ‘Protecting the Planet’, ‘Robots to the Rescue’, ‘Future of Flight’ and ‘Our World in Pixels’. The Indy Autonomous Challenge will attempt an autonomous record with AV-24 on the hillclimb.
The Royal Airforce Aerobatic Team Red Arrows will perform stunning displays on Thursday and Friday. Known for their magnificent performances, they have become a staple at the Festival of Speed.
For those unable to attend in person, highlights from the Festival of Speed will be available on ITV1: Monday 22 July at 22:45 BST and Tuesday 23 July at 23:00 BST. The event can also be watched live on goodwood.com and Goodwood Road & Racing's official livestream.

The next Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard is scheduled for Thursday 10 – Sunday 13 July 2025.
First held in 1993 against Goodwood House's backdrop in West Sussex UK., it features over 600 cars and motorcycles spanning motoring history along with legendary automotive figures.
