GM Defense Hosts Warrior Rising Veterans At Milford Proving Ground To Showcase Advanced Technologies

GM Defense recently hosted members of Warrior Rising, a veteran support group, at General Motors’ Milford Proving Ground. The event showcased GM's advanced technologies for defense and government sectors. Warrior Rising is a nonprofit organisation that aids U.S. veterans in business success through partnerships and mentoring.

During the event, over 30 veterans had the opportunity to test drive the GMC HUMMER EV and the Army’s Infantry Squad Vehicle, which is based on the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2. They also viewed Chevrolet’s mid-engine performance cars, including the 2024 Corvette Stingray and Corvette Z06.

The gathering included a discussion on Medal of Honor values led by Master Sergeant Earl Plumlee, a Medal of Honor recipient. John Johnson, GM Defense vice president of Government Solutions and Strategy, expressed pride in hosting Warrior Rising members. "GM Defense was honored to provide Warrior Rising members the chance to experience GM’s advanced technologies at Milford Proving Ground," he stated.

This week marks the 100th anniversary of Milford Proving Ground, GM’s primary vehicle testing facility. Established in 1924, it employs over 4,000 people and features 150 miles of test roads across 4,000 acres in southeastern Michigan. Historically, it has been crucial in developing military vehicles, including testing U.S. Army tanks during World War II.

Ken Vennera, chief of staff at Warrior Rising, praised GM Defense for hosting their veterans during the Detroit Veteran Business Shower. "We are thrilled that GM Defense stepped up to host many of our Warrior Rising veterans taking part in their Detroit Veteran Business Shower," he said.
