GM Defense Honors Medal Of Honor Society With Exclusive Event And Vehicle Showcase

GM Defense recently welcomed leaders from the Congressional Medal of Honor Society to its Manufacturing and Customer Innovation Center (MCIC) in Concord, North Carolina. The event included a flag-raising ceremony and tours of the MCIC and GM’s Charlotte Technical Center, with four Medal of Honor Recipients in attendance.

During the visit, GM Defense showcased its light tactical utility vehicle and offered test drives of the Army’s Infantry Squad Vehicle, which is based on the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2. Attendees also experienced the U.S. Government’s first OEM-integrated Heavy-Duty Sport Utility Vehicle, along with driving the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and GMC HUMMER EV.

The Congressional Medal of Honor Society was chartered by Congress in 1958. Steve duMont, president of GM Defense, expressed pride in hosting the event: "We’re incredibly proud that four Medal of Honor Recipients, whose acts of valor and heroism spanned from the Vietnam War to the Global War on Terror, raised the colors of our nation for the first time over our Concord, North Carolina, facility." Britt Slabinski, a Medal of Honor Recipient and president of the CMOHS board of directors, praised GM Defense: "As President of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, it is an honor to visit GM Defense and witness firsthand their commitment to supporting the men and women who serve our nation." He highlighted their innovative technology aimed at enhancing military safety and effectiveness.

GM Defense teammate Hendrick Motorsports hosted lunch for the group and provided a tour of their Heritage Center. This collaboration underscored GM Defense's dedication to honouring military service members through advanced technological solutions.
