Genesis Enhances Youth Sports And STEAM Learning In Coastal Georgia
Genesis recently supported youth sports and STEAM education initiatives in Coastal Georgia, home to Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA). Genesis partnered with the Georgia Hi-Lo Trail to support its Kids Bike League. Additionally, Genesis hosted a STEAM workshop from Child Creativity Lab at the Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club in Savannah.
The support comes from Genesis Motor America’s corporate social responsibility initiative, Genesis Gives. This initiative is committed to developing future generations by investing in STEAM and youth sports programming. "Through Genesis Gives, we are proud to give back to our neighbours in Coastal Georgia as we now call this community our home," said Brandon Ramirez, director of corporate social responsibility, Genesis Motor America.
Genesis partnered with the Georgia Hi-Lo Trail, an organisation dedicated to connecting and empowering rural Georgia through the development of the 211-mile Georgia Hi-Lo Trail. As part of its programming, the Kids Bike League gives children access to bikes and increases opportunities to ride on these newly paved trails.
Georgia Hi-Lo Trail, Inc. is a 501(c)3 organisation focused on connecting rural Georgia through a 211-mile trail. The trail will link communities across eight counties and connect to the 39-mile Firefly Trail, creating the longest paved trail in the U.S. The Kids Bike League serves children within this region by providing equal access to bikes and opportunities for growth.
"We're grateful for the support from Genesis to create safe cycling opportunities for children in Coastal Georgia," said Mary Charles Howard, founder and executive director of Georgia Hi-Lo Trail. "This investment helps us create accessible recreational spaces." The donation from Genesis will be invested in infrastructure needed for children in Coastal Georgia to bike, hike, run, and play safely.
STEAM Workshop
A student presents her future mobility concept vehicle made from reclaimed and upcycled materials during Genesis’ STEAM workshop from Child Creativity Lab at the Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club in Savannah on August 12, 2024. This workshop allowed students to use their imagination and develop their own concept for a future mobility vehicle using reclaimed materials.
After showcasing their vehicle designs, students received a special look at the advanced technology of the electrified Genesis GV60. This intertwining of creativity and sustainability aims to inspire young minds towards innovative thinking.
Athens to Savannah Ride
The Athens to Savannah Ride is scheduled for October 17-20, 2024. It offers cyclists a choice between a three-day road ride or a four-day gravel ride covering 285 miles. Both rides finish in Historic Downtown Savannah.
