Genesis GV60 Magma Concept Unveiled At Goodwood Festival Aiming For 2025 Production
The Genesis GV60 Magma Concept will make its global dynamic debut at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed. This marks the first time a Magma model is shown in action since the high-performance program launched in March. The debut, led by Genesis brand partner and racing legend Jacky Ickx, will take place on the Goodwood hillclimb.
Genesis announced that the GV60 Magma is set to enter production soon, becoming the first Magma model to do so. Sales are expected to begin in Korea during the third quarter of next year, followed by Europe in the fourth quarter. "We are thrilled to present the global dynamic debut of the GV60 Magma Concept at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed," said Genesis Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke.
The GV60 Magma Concept is among several vehicles within the Genesis Magma program showcased at this year's Goodwood event. The Genesis G80 EV Magma Concept will also make its global dynamic debut on the Goodwood hillclimb. Additionally, the Genesis G70 Track Taxi Nordschleife, designed for passenger rides at Germany's Nürburgring track, will be seen in action for the first time in the UK.
The GV60 Magma Concept was globally unveiled at Genesis House New York on March 25. The brand announced the official launch of its high-performance program then. With Magma, Genesis aims to develop a high-end variant of each model within its lineup, enhancing both aesthetics and performance.
The GV60 Magma is set to hit sales in Korea next year as an EV model. It will closely resemble the concept model but with necessary modifications for regional regulations. Production models within the Genesis Magma program will feature specialized components aimed at enhancing sporty driving while ensuring comfort.
Magma models will have a wider and lower body design paired with exclusive chassis and suspension components. These features are engineered to elevate overall performance and provide a unique driving sensation. An authentic sound system exclusive to Magma vehicles will offer a rich auditory experience that boosts excitement during every ride.
Genesis' Participation at Goodwood
Genesis has participated in Goodwood for four consecutive years, captivating audiences with exciting vehicle showcases and launches. This year's stand is their largest yet, featuring a two-story installation near the hillclimb starting line. The open pavilion connects indoor and outdoor spaces, creating an inviting atmosphere that captures Korean sentiments.
Displayed on the stand's first floor are the GV60 Magma Concept, G80 Magma Special, and X Gran Berlinetta Concept from the Genesis Magma program. On the second floor are three production vehicles: GV60, Electrified GV70, and Electrified G80.
Jacky Ickx's Role
Ickx, a six-time Le Mans winner appointed as a Genesis brand partner in February, will hold autograph signing events throughout the weekend. Fans can engage with him from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, and 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
The GV60 Magma Concept, G80 EV Magma Concept, G70 Track Taxi Nordschleife, and GV80 Coupe Concept will run up the hill until Sunday’s end of the festival. For the first time, Genesis will compete in Shootout Sunday with the GV60 Magma Concept showcasing its driving capabilities.
