Genesis And Genesis Inspiration Foundation Donate $20,000 To Youth Sports And Arts Initiatives In Alexandria
Genesis and the Genesis Inspiration Foundation have donated $20,000 to support youth sports and arts in Alexandria. This contribution marks the grand opening of Genesis of Alexandria. The funds will aid the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation (WTEF) and Del Ray Artisans, enhancing their programs for young people in the community.
The Washington Tennis & Education Foundation (WTEF) focuses on helping students reach their potential through education, tennis, and life skills. With two campuses and partnerships with over 10 schools, WTEF has positively influenced more than 600 young lives in the past year. Their junior tennis program offers a comprehensive pathway for youth of all skill levels.
John Borden, president and CEO of WTEF, expressed gratitude for the donation: "WTEF is fortunate to receive support from an organization that recognizes the importance of investing in ability-rich communities that are under-resourced." He added that Genesis' gift will directly benefit students and communities in Southeast DC.
Del Ray Artisans is committed to promoting art within the community. Their new STEAM-tastic program combines Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math with hands-on projects to inspire creativity among youth. The donation will help fund these initiatives, including summer art camps and scholarships for high school students.
Dawn Wyse Hurto, president of Del Ray Artisans, stated: "Del Ray Artisans is honored to receive this generous donation from Genesis Inspiration Foundation." She noted that this support allows them to focus more on developing creative programs like their STEAM-tastic workshops and future youth art camps.
