Genesis GV70 And Electrified Version Achieve Top IIHS Safety Honors For 2024/2025

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded the 2025 Genesis GV70 and 2024 Electrified GV70 SUVs the TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) designation for vehicles manufactured after April 2024. This recognition makes Genesis the brand with the most TSP+ ratings as of September 2024.

To earn a TSP+ rating in 2024, vehicles must achieve good ratings in small overlap front and updated side tests, and at least acceptable in the updated moderate overlap front test. Additionally, they must have acceptable or good ratings for pedestrian front crash prevention and standard headlights rated as acceptable or good.

GV70 Models Win IIHS Safety Awards

All Genesis models come equipped with advanced safety technologies. These include Forward Collision Avoidance-Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keeping Assist, and Blind-Spot Collision Warning. These features are designed to help prevent accidents and protect occupants if a collision occurs.

The 2025 Genesis GV70 and 2024 Electrified GV70 feature eight standard airbags, including front, side, curtain airbags for both driver and passenger, a driver knee airbag, and a center airbag to protect against injuries during an accident.

Highway Driving Assist helps keep the vehicle centered within its lane at an appropriate speed while maintaining a safe distance from the car ahead. Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist provides audible and visual warnings and applies brakes when a potential collision is detected.

Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist helps reduce the risk of impact with vehicles detected in the blind spot. High Beam Assist automatically adjusts high beams based on ambient light and oncoming vehicle headlamps to ensure safety for all road users.

Genesis Connected Services

Genesis Connected Services offer features like Automatic Collision Notification, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, and SOS Emergency Assistance when there is cellular network access. These services provide peace of mind by ensuring help is available when needed.

Cole Stutz, chief safety officer of Genesis Motor North America, stated, "At Genesis, the safety of our customers always comes first. The recognition of GV70 and Electrified GV70 SUVs as TOP SAFETY PICK + by the IIHS further validates our dedication to providing the safest vehicles on the road."

About Genesis Motor North America

Genesis Motor North America is a global automotive brand known for its high standards in design, safety, performance, and innovation. The brand offers a range of award-winning SUV, sedan, and electric models through over 220 independent U.S. retailers and more than 30 Canadian agency distributors.

Genesis has more than 70 standalone retail facilities across North America with many more in development. Consumers can explore the brand at various retail points or online at www.genesis.com.

The TSP+ award highlights top vehicle choices for safety within their categories. This year’s evaluation upgraded both GV70 models from their previous TOP SAFETY PICK ratings to TSP+ status.

The comprehensive suite of active and passive safety technologies in Genesis vehicles ensures advanced occupant protection during crashes. Standard features across all models help avoid accidents while providing robust protection if they occur.

The Highway Driving Assist system is designed for highway use only. It helps keep the vehicle centered in its lane while maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles when lane markings are clearly visible. However, it should not be used in poor weather conditions or heavy traffic.

Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist alerts drivers to approaching cross traffic when reversing out of parking spots. It provides audible and visual warnings and applies braking if necessary to prevent collisions.

Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist warns drivers of cars in their blind spot region and can apply braking to prevent unsafe lane changes. It senses rear side territory when traveling over 20 mph but has limitations based on size, distance, angle, and speed differences between vehicles.

The Genesis brand draws from its cultural heritage and Korean hospitality to craft experiences focused on customers as "son-nim," or honored guests. The company continues to look towards a sustainable future while delivering refined performance and innovation.
