General Motors has announced that Grant Dixton will join the company as executive vice president and chief legal and public policy officer starting July 15. He will report to GM Chair and CEO Mary Barra, overseeing global legal, compliance, corporate governance, privacy, and public policy functions.

Dixton's previous role was as the chief legal officer of Activision Blizzard, where he managed complex business transactions and regulatory issues. At Boeing, he served in several executive positions including general counsel and corporate secretary. His responsibilities included providing strategic counsel on governance, litigation, intellectual property, and labor matters.

Craig Glidden will now concentrate on Cruise operations while continuing to serve as president and chief administrative officer. He will handle legal, government affairs, finance, communications, and human resources at Cruise. Additionally, Glidden will support Marc Whitten, who is joining Cruise as its new CEO.

Glidden joined GM in 2015 as general counsel and has since transformed GM’s global legal and policy operations. His efforts have supported GM's vision of zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion. He successfully concluded litigation related to the ignition switch recall and established processes for employees to raise potential safety issues.

Mary Barra expressed her confidence in Dixton's abilities: "Grant Dixton is a respected leader and legal expert who has a deep understanding of the transportation, manufacturing, and technology sectors. We are excited to welcome him to GM in this important role." Dixton himself stated: "GM is an iconic company I have always admired. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with Mary, her leadership team, and the strong legal and policy teams in place at GM."

Glidden's leadership has also been pivotal in developing a bipartisan policy team that navigates the changing domestic and geopolitical environment effectively. This team works well with officials at all levels of government. Recently, GM ranked among the 100 most nonpartisan companies in the 2024 Axios Harris Poll.

Barra acknowledged Glidden's contributions: "Since Craig joined General Motors nearly a decade ago, I’ve relied on him to help guide our company through many pivotal moments. He’s a no-nonsense and inspirational leader with a deep understanding of the automotive business."
