Top Fuel-Efficient Sub-4m SUVs To Consider This Festive Season
SUVs have become the most popular choice in the automotive market, with their demand overshadowing other vehicle types. As the festive season approaches, manufacturers are offering enticing deals to attract buyers and increase sales. This article explores the most fuel-efficient sub-4m SUVs available during this period.
It's important to note that not all manufacturers disclose ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figures transparently, which can impact buyers' decisions. Additionally, ARAI does not list efficiency figures for all vehicle powertrain configurations. Despite these challenges, we have compiled a list of sub-4m SUVs with impressive mileage figures.

Fuel Efficiency of Tata Motors' Sub-4m SUVs
Tata Motors offers two sub-4m SUVs: Nexon and Punch. The Punch delivers approximately 20 km/l with a Petrol MT and around 19 km/l with a Petrol AMT. The i-CNG variants offer an impressive 27 km/kg. For Nexon, Petrol MT variants achieve about 17.5 km/l, while automatic versions provide around 17 km/l. The i-CNG variant is more economical at approximately 24 km/kg.
Maruti Suzuki's Mileage-Focused Offerings
Maruti Suzuki emphasises fuel efficiency as a core value. The Brezza boasts a mileage of 17.38 km/l for LXI and VXI variants and 19.89 km/l for ZXI and ZXI+ (manual). Automatic versions promise 19.8 km/l, while CNG models offer up to 25.51 km/kg. The Fronx NA Petrol provides 22.89 km/l with AMT and 21.8 km/l with manual transmission.
The Turbo Petrol engine in Fronx offers 21.5 km/l manually and 20.02 km/l automatically, while CNG variants reach up to 28.51 km/kg according to ARAI certification.
Mahindra XUV3OO's Turbo Petrol Options
Mahindra XUV3OO features two Turbo Petrol engines: TCMPFI and TGDI. Surprisingly, the TGDI version offers better mileage than expected, achieving 20.1 km/l with MT and 18.2 km/l with AT according to ARAI numbers.
The TCMPFI engine provides 18.89 km/l with MT and 17.96 km/l with AT, while the Diesel MT combo delivers an impressive 20.6 km/l.
Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet's Similar Efficiency
The Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet share similar fuel efficiency figures: around 17.5 km/l with NA Petrol MT, approximately 18 km/l with Turbo Petrol MT, and between 18-19 km/l for Turbo Petrol automatics depending on iMT or DCT configurations.
The diesel engines offer about 23 km/l for both models.
Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger's Comparable Mileage
Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger are nearly identical under the hood, resulting in similar mileage figures: around 19-20 km/l for NA Petrol MT and AT options. The Turbo Petrol option yields approximately 19-20 km/l for MT variants and about 17 km/l for AT versions.
