Mahindra XUV 3XO Vs Competition: Fuel Efficiency Comparison
Mahindra has recently introduced the XUV 3XO, the facelifted version of the XUV300, to the Indian automobile market. With a starting price of Rs 7.49 lakh, the new model brings freshness to the compact SUV category with its updated design, advanced features, safety technology, and a new transmission choice.
The XUV 3XO is presented with three engine options: two versions of a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Among these, the diesel automatic transmission (AT) variant stands out with an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 21.2 km/l.

Meanwhile, the turbo-petrol models also post impressive figures, with the manual transmission (MT) variant achieving up to 20.1km/l. When compared to its rivals, the XUV 3XO showcases competitive fuel efficiency.
The Tata Nexon, however, leads in the diesel AT category with a mileage of 24.08km/l. In the petrol sector, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx takes the crown with a 22.89km/l rating for its automatic variant, closely followed by the Toyota Taisor and other competitors.
| XUV 3XO | Nexon | Sonet | Venue | Brezza | Fronx | |
| Petrol MT (km/l) | 18.89/20.1 (TGDi) | 17.44 | 18.83/ 18.7(Turbo iMT) | 17.52/ 18.27(Turbo) | 17.38 | 21.7/ 21.5(Turbo) |
| Petrol AT (km/l) | 17.96/18.2 (TGDi) | 17.18 (AMT) / 17.01(DCT) | 19.2 (Turbo) | 18.15 (Turbo) | 19.80 | 22.89/ 20(Turbo) |
| Diesel MT (km/l) | 20.6 | 23.23 | 22.3 (iMT) | 23.17 | - | - |
| Diesel AT (km/l) | 21.2 | 24.08 | 18.6 | - | - | - |
It is notable that the Taisor, Fronx, and Brezza are the only SUVs in this comparison to offer a factory-fitted CNG kit option, providing an alternative for those looking for even more economical fuel consumption options. This feature could be a game-changer for customers prioritizing running costs.
The comparison table clearly outlines how the XUV 3XO stands against its rivals across different engine and transmission configurations. Despite strong competition, the XUV 3XO's diesel variants show impressive efficiency, with the petrol models not far behind. This balance of performance and efficiency is crucial in the compact SUV segment.
