Andy Hateley Tops Seeding Bracket In Formula DRIFT PRO Championship Round 7, Utah
The Formula DRIFT PRO Championship Round 7 and the final round of the Link ECU PROSPEC Championship took place at Utah Motorsports Campus in Grantsville, UT. The event, known as Type S Elevated presented by AutoZone, saw intense competition among drivers.
Andy Hateley from Hateley Motorsports clinched the top spot in the K&N PRO Seeding Bracket with his E46 BMW. Ben Hobson, driving the Pennzoil / BC Racing Mustang RTR Spec 5-FD, secured second place despite experiencing power issues during his runs. Rudy Hansen of Team Hansen finished third with his Supercharged Nissan S13.
The Seeding Bracket determined positions 25-32 for Saturday’s competition heats. Ten drivers competed in tandem runs, with the top eight advancing and the rest eliminated. Hobson's Mustang faced several problems, but he managed to qualify for only the second time this season. The team has until Saturday to fix any issues.
In the PROSPEC category, 30 drivers competed for 16 spots in the Top 32 competition. The first 16 positions were preset from Round 3. The sudden death format saw each tandem run loser eliminated immediately. Successful drivers will compete today (Friday) in positions 17-32.
With only two points separating the top two PROSPEC drivers and four others still in contention for the Championship, every point matters. Points leader Connor O’Sullivan faces a tough challenge against double PROSPEC Champion Dmitriy Brutskiy in the Top 32 heats.
