Formula DRIFT Prepares For The 2024 Irwindale Final And Celebrates A Historic Championship Opportunity
The 2024 Formula DRIFT season is set to conclude at Irwindale Speedway on October 18-19. Formula DRIFT President Ryan Sage shared insights on the season and the significance of Irwindale, known as The House of DRIFT. "As we stand on the precipice of the final event of the season, we’re all struck by the focused determination of James Deane," Sage stated.
James Deane has had a remarkable season, one of the most dominant in Formula DRIFT's 21-year history. He is on track to win the Championship title due to format changes introduced this year. "Barring any catastrophic practice incident, the moment James rolls up to the line in the Top 32 Competition heats...Deane only needs to demonstrate a standard of participation on his first competitive run to grasp his fourth championship title!" Sage explained.
Completing his heat will secure enough points for Deane to claim his fourth championship title. This achievement will be celebrated as a record-breaking moment in series history. Sage remarked, "It highlights the skill and commitment James possesses as an athlete." His success sets him apart from other drivers, making this victory significant for the sport's history.
The return to Irwindale Speedway for the 2024 Formula DRIFT PRO Championship Finals is highly anticipated. The venue holds special memories for fans, teams, and drivers alike. It remains one of Southern California's few operational tracks and is close to Los Angeles, making it integral to the series.
