Ford Pro Unveils The 2025 Police Interceptor Utility With Advanced Safety Features
The 2025 Ford Police Interceptor Utility, featuring a hybrid powertrain, is now being delivered to law enforcement agencies across the United States. This vehicle is part of America's top-selling police vehicle lineup. The hybrid system can significantly reduce fuel costs by powering onboard equipment even when the engine is off.
Safety is a priority in the 2025 Ford Police Interceptor Utility. The Police Perimeter Alert system detects threats around the vehicle, activating the rear camera, sounding an alarm, rolling up windows, and locking doors. This allows officers to monitor their surroundings at different sensitivity levels while completing tasks inside the vehicle.
Additionally, officers can lock the vehicle and take the keys with them while keeping the engine running to power onboard equipment using the Police Engine Idle feature. Optional ballistic panels provide level III+ or IV+ protection against various ammunition types.
The 2025 model includes advanced driver-assist technologies such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitoring with Cross-traffic Alert (BLIS), Rear Parking Sensors, Reverse Brake Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Braking. These features enhance driving safety in various scenarios.
New standard features include a 12.3-inch LCD digital instrument cluster with a certified speedometer for clearer information display during operation. Manual Police Pursuit Mode allows officers to activate high-performance tuning without taking their hands off the wheel.
Powertrain Options
Departments can choose from three powertrain options: a 3.3-liter direct-injected V6 with a hybrid system (318 horsepower and 322 lb.-ft. of torque), a 3.3L V6 gas engine (285 horsepower and 260 lbs.-ft. of torque), or a 3.0L V6 EcoBoost engine (400 horsepower and 415 lbs.-ft. of torque).
The Ford Pro Vehicle Integration System 2.0 simplifies customization, while advanced over-the-air capabilities ensure seamless updates. Four remappable switches on the steering wheel allow easy control of lights, sirens, speakers, K9 door releases, and other police applications.
Comprehensive Support
Ford Pro Police Vehicles are supported by over 700 commercial vehicle service centres nationwide to keep units in top condition and officers on patrol. The PIU was designed to pass Ford's 75-mph rear-impact crash test goals, ensuring officer safety on highways.
The standard Ford modem offers an option to subscribe to Ford Pro Telematics for real-time vehicle data on performance and service needs. This helps fleet managers anticipate maintenance requirements, increasing uptime and productivity.
Additional Features
The PIU also includes Police Accessory Independent Timed-Release Output (PAITRO), a two-part security system for the cargo area that prevents unauthorized access. An available lockable vault provides convenient storage for weapons, ammunition, or critical evidence.
The new model continues to set standards for pursuit-rated law enforcement vehicles with its hybrid powertrain option. "Officers often have long idle times when on patrol," said Lindsey Bertino, Ford Pro Police Vehicle Marketing Manager. "The hybrid powertrain is a popular choice."
