Ford Reigns As America's Leading Automaker In Production And Exports
Ford Motor Company has once again secured its position as the leading American automaker in terms of vehicle assembly, exports, and hourly workforce. According to the latest data from S&P Global Mobility, Ford has maintained this top spot for the sixth consecutive year.
In 2023, Ford assembled over 1.8 million vehicles in the U.S., surpassing other automakers by 130,000 units. This includes the popular F-Series truck franchise, which comprises gas-powered, hybrid, and electric pickup trucks. These vehicles are manufactured at plants in Michigan, Missouri, Kentucky, and Ohio.
Ford employs more than 57,000 hourly manufacturing workers in the U.S., more than any other automaker. Training is currently underway for a new third crew at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant, which will assemble Bronco and Ranger vehicles. This initiative includes nearly 900 new hires.
In 2023, Ford exported over 260,000 American-assembled vehicles to international markets such as Canada, Mexico, China, Puerto Rico, and South Korea. This figure is higher than any other automaker's export numbers. Approximately one in every seven vehicles assembled by Ford in the U.S. is destined for international markets.
Ford and Lincoln have more than 2,800 dealerships across the U.S., creating additional jobs within local communities. These dealerships play a crucial role in serving customers and supporting local economies.
