Ford Unveils Unique Ranger Raptor North Edition Concept In Collaboration With Kris Kringle

Ford Motor Company has unveiled concept designs for a unique Ranger Raptor North Edition. This vehicle, developed in collaboration with Kris Kringle, is not intended for production. The project was led by Ford's Australian design team, with input from global experts. Kringle expressed his desire for a versatile vehicle to use outside of the holiday season.

The Ranger Raptor North Edition boasts several imaginative features. These include heated hot chocolate holders and an infinity load box. The tailgate also incorporates a barbecue setup. According to Kringle, the Ranger Raptor was chosen for its off-road capabilities and comfort, making it suitable for both work and leisure activities.

Kirby Masterman, a designer at Ford Australia, spearheaded the design process. The team had just ten weeks to bring the concept to life. Masterman noted the intense nature of the project but appreciated the support from colleagues in Australia, the U.S., and even at their North Pole studio.

Flight capability was crucial for Kringle's everyday sleigh concept. Dr Chad McBoffin from Ford's Experimental Laboratory Foundation explained that they adapted a compressed air system from a 1958 concept car to achieve this. The system was modified to lift the vehicle up to 60,000 feet above controlled airspace.

To generate sufficient thrust, a new micro-sized rocket engine powered by candy canes was invented. This allows Kringle to travel at speeds close to light speed or simply drive to his favourite fishing spot. McBoffin stated that they successfully created an everyday sleigh.

Unique Access and Safety Features

The design includes a roof access point instead of traditional doors, aligning with Kringle's preference for chimney entry. The Ranger Raptor’s cup holders were redesigned with heating elements to maintain hot chocolate at an ideal temperature of 58 degrees Celsius.

The vehicle also features an enhanced F-O-R-D grille made from Unobtanium, ensuring safety during high-speed travel by resisting heat and friction. Retractable wings provide stability during flight, while Mistletoe-class rockets offer necessary thrust.

A Collaborative Effort

Max Wolff, Ford's design director for China and International Markets Group, expressed gratitude towards Kris Kringle for trusting them with this whimsical project. He humorously mentioned that cleaning mince pie crumbs from Kirby’s computer might take some time.

This imaginative project highlights Ford's creativity and innovation in vehicle design, even if it remains purely conceptual without plans for actual production.
