Ford Focus ST Edition Revealed: The Psycho Hot-hatch We Wish Would Come To India
Ford has just unveiled the latest addition to its high-performance lineup - the Focus ST Edition, available now in select markets. The new Ford Focus ST Edition is the most comprehensive track-focused Ford Performance-developed Focus to date.
The new Ford Focus ST Edition offers a blend of high-speed racetrack capabilities and the everyday conveniences expected from a family car. Be it the school run or running laps around a circuit, the Focus ST Edition has been designed to tackle both extremes with ease.
The Ford Focus ST Edition stands out from the the regular Focus ST with its updated features list. This includes a KW-sourced two-way adjustable coilover suspension system, which is 10mm lower than standard and can be further adjusted by 20mm by the customer. Spring rates have been increased by 50 per cent compared to the regular ST.
The Ford Focus ST Edition offers 12 jounce (the degree of upward damper movement allowed as the wheel contacts a bump in the road) and 16 rebound (the speed at which the damper returns to position after an upward movement) settings for a greater degree of control over cornering responsesand there are even recommended settings for tracks like the Nurburgring Nordschleife for the proper track nutters.
Additionally, the car features lightweight alloy wheels crafted through a flow-forming process akin to those used in aerospace. Reducing unsprung mass by 10 per cent at each wheel, the 19-inch alloy wheels play a crucial role in the car's agile handling. These wheels come draped in high-performance Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres.
Uner the bonnet, the Focus ST Edition is powered by Ford's twin-scroll turbocharged 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine, delivering 276bhp and 420Nm of peak torque to the front wheels with the help of a six-speed manual gearbox. The Focus ST Edition sprints from 0-100km/h in just 5.7 seconds and it tops out at 250km/h.
The Ford Focus ST Edition, which is only offered in a 5-door guise, sports the most sought-after option packs by Focus ST customers, such as the Driver Assist Pack which adds Adaptive Cruise Control with Speed Sign Recognition and Lane Centring, and a Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert.
For an immersive audio experience, a 675W B&O Premium Sound System is standard. Also partof the standard kit is the the Winter Pack that includes a heated steering wheel and Quickclear heated windscreen. The vehicle's unique Azura Blue finish, complemented by High Gloss Black details, help set it apart from the regular Focus ST.
