Force Motors Launches 2024 Gurkha; Starts Deliveries In India
Force Motors has launched the 2024 Gurkha to capture a larger market share in India's lifestyle adventure SUV segment. The 2024 Gurkha, available in both 3-door and 5-door models, starts at Rs 16.75 lakh (Ex-sh) and Rs 18 lakh, respectively. The company has now begun deliveries, with the first set of customers receiving their new SUVs.
This segment has seen intense competition between Mahindra and Force Motors over the past decade. Mahindra's Thar, launched in 2020, initially gained a significant lead. However, Force Motors has now pulled ahead by launching the 2024 Gurkha, including a 5-door version, whereas Mahindra has yet to introduce the Thar Armada.
The 2024 Gurkha boasts numerous upgrades compared to its predecessor, making it more capable against rivals like Mahindra Thar and Maruti Jimny. Force Motors announced the commencement of deliveries on social media, congratulating the new owners of the 2024 Gurkha.
When evaluated on its features, the 2024 Gurkha stands out among its competitors. Its design, inspired by the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, includes many off-road enhancements. These features make the Gurkha a compelling option for buyers.
Exterior features of the 2024 Gurkha include round LED headlights, LED DRLs, and fender-mounted LED turn indicators. It also has fog lights with a cornering function, a functional roof rack, snorkel, ladder, side-step, 18-inch alloy wheels, and 255-section tyres. These elements together give the Gurkha a rugged and powerful appearance.
Inside, the 2024 Gurkha has undergone a significant update in terms of seating and overall comfort. It now includes a 9-inch infotainment screen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There is also a fully digital TFT instrument screen with TPMS readout, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and an adjustable steering wheel. The 5-door variant offers third-row seating with captain seats.
The 2024 Gurkha features a 2.6-litre CR turbo diesel engine, maintaining the same unit used in other Force vehicles. However, it is now tuned to produce 140 bhp and 320 Nm of torque, an improvement from the previous 95 bhp and 250 Nm.
It is paired with a 5-speed gearbox and includes an engine stop/start feature. Additional notable features include an electronic shift-on-the-fly 4X4 transfer case and front and rear locking differentials.
