Force Gurkha Automatic Official Statement Out – Hints At Development Timeframe
The Force Gurkha is one of the most off-road capable SUVs you can buy in India. The latest one is even more capable and with an option for the 5-door variant, it becomes a lot more practical as well.
Also, despite the availability of a new body style, added features, and a more powerful engine, the updated Force Gurkha lineup continued to lack the automatic gearbox. This is a bummer for urban car enthusiasts considering bumper-to-bumper traffic in most Indian cities.

However, recently it was rumoured that Force Motors has been silently developing an automatic version of the Gurkha SUV for the Indian Market to take on the Mahindra Thar automatic. Now, with regard to this news, Force Motors has now shared an official statement.
"At Force Motors, we continuously strive to innovate and enhance our vehicle offerings to better serve our customers. We have noted the recent speculation regarding the potential launch of the Gurkha in an automatic transmission variant. While we appreciate the interest and enthusiasm from our community and stakeholders, we cannot confirm such news at this moment." mentioned the statement.

"The development of new vehicle variants, especially involving major changes like an automatic transmission, could require a timeline of 18-24 months to ensure we meet our high standards of quality and performance." the statement added.
Looking at the official statement, Force Motors does not deny anything about the possibility of a Gurkha automatic. Moreover, according to the statement, the company confirms that equipping the Gurkha with an automatic transmission is a major change and the finished product could even take a couple of years to develop.

"Our commitment remains steadfast in bringing innovative solutions that enhance the driving experience for our end consumers. In due course of time, we will be able to share more concrete information on this topic as we continue our evaluations and development processes." the statement added.
DriveSpark Thinks
Looking at the market, it will be a boon for Force Motors to have an automatic variant of the Gurkha SUV in its product lineup. However, according to the official statement, we think the model is at least a couple of years away from battling the automatic variants of Thar and Jimny.
