First Speed Six Delivery In Nearly A Century As Blower Completes Historic 24-Hour Race
The first Speed Six Continuation Series car has been completed and is set to be delivered to the USA. This marks the first new Bentley Speed Six delivery since 1930. John Breslow, an existing Mulliner customer, will receive this car as a companion to his Blower Continuation Series. The vehicle, commissioned over a year ago, features Parsons Napier Green bodywork on a black chassis.
Each Speed Six car requires eight months of meticulous craftsmanship. Mulliner's skilled team collaborates with UK specialists to recreate every detail of the original model. The iconic design includes twin round headlamps in chrome with protective mesh, separated by a large number '4' on the radiator. Inside, the cockpit mirrors the 1930 Le Mans-winning Speed Sixes.
The Speed Six is celebrated as Bentley's most successful racing car. It uses manufacturing techniques from the late 1920s and is Mulliner's second pre-war Continuation Series. The Blower Continuation Series was the first pre-war series created, combining modern laser-scanned data with original drawings from the famous 1929 4½-litre supercharged Team Car #2.
The Blower Continuation Series recently achieved a milestone at Portimão's Benjafield’s 24-hour endurance race. A customer car completed the event, marking the first time a factory-built Bentley Blower finished such a race. This highlights the engineering excellence behind these pre-war continuation models.
Mulliner's team visited Beaulieu's National Motor Museum to verify authentic period Parsons Paints for customers. Over 600 new parts were crafted for the new 6½ Litre race-spec engine, originally producing 200 bhp. Modern materials allow for higher outputs, but the goal was to replicate the original performance and appearance of a 1930 Bentley.
The interior features rich Rust leather with dominant red tones, complementing the Parsons Napier Green exterior. Every gauge and switch matches those from the original Speed Sixes that triumphed at Le Mans in 1930. This dedication ensures authenticity in both appearance and function.
