FG Series Unveils FG-Twin Electric Race Car For 2025: All-Electric, Dual Powered
The FG series has unveiled the first images of its all-electric, dual-powered race car ahead of its debut season in 2025 Named the FG-Twin, it was designed by Daniel Simon, known for his work on Hollywood films like Tron Legacy, Oblivion, and Top Gun Maverick. Series founders Dilbagh Gill and Nick Heidfeld also contributed to the design.
The FG-Twin features a futuristic look that distinguishes it from current single-seaters. One standout feature is the digital screens on the exterior, which display crucial information such as battery level and race position.

The car can operate in both rear-wheel and four-wheel drive configurations, with power reaching up to 350kW or about 470bhp. Its modular design allows for quick hardware adjustments during race weekends.
Dual Championship Participation
It's crucial for the FG-Twin to function in two modes because it will compete in two concurrent championships at each event.
The FG2 series will be an entry-level platform for young drivers, using the car in a lower power setting. Meanwhile, the FG1 championship will cater to professional racers with enhanced performance settings.
This approach aims to reduce participation costs by allowing multiple drivers to use the same car in different settings over the same weekend.

Series Founders and Vision
The series is the brainchild of former Mahindra Formula E chief Dilbagh Gill and ex-Formula 1/FE driver Nick Heidfeld. They previously collaborated at Mahindra's racing division. Heidfeld, who serves as the chief sporting officer of FG, expressed his excitement: "Today is a big day for FG Series as we unveil the outstanding design of the FG-Twin. It's our centrepiece to introduce FG Series and its disruptive solutions."
Heidfeld added: "Defining the styling targets was a collaborative team effort but surpassing them while meeting the latest safety requirements and technical specifications was only possible due to Daniel Simon's exceptional skills. Collaborating with Daniel Simon has been a dream come true for me."

DriveSpark Thinks
Plans for what was initially called ACE Championship were first revealed during the Hyderabad E-Prix in February 2023. The series was rebranded as FG at the end of last year. It now aims to host its inaugural season in 2025, which will include several independent championships.
The goal of FG Series is to enable talents from around the world to pursue their motorsport ambitions. Heidfeld hopes this is just the beginning of many dreams being fulfilled. The innovative approach of allowing multiple drivers to race the same car in different settings could significantly lower costs and make motorsport more accessible. The unveiling of the FG-Twin marks a significant milestone for FG Series as it prepares for its debut season.
