EVgo And General Motors To Launch Flagship EV Charging Stations Nationwide
EVgo Inc. and General Motors (GM) are enhancing their collaboration by introducing 400 fast charging stalls at key locations in major U.S. cities. These stations will feature advanced amenities like 350kW chargers, canopies, lighting, pull-through access, and security cameras to meet the increasing demand for reliable EV charging solutions.
The flagship stations will be strategically placed in metropolitan areas across states such as Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New York, and Texas. Each station will typically have up to 20 stalls, with some locations offering even more to accommodate the growing number of electric vehicle drivers.

Co-branded by EVgo and GM Energy, these stations will be situated near various amenities like shopping centres, dining options, coffee shops, and other services that drivers can use while their vehicles charge. This initiative aims to provide a convenient and customer-friendly charging experience.
Dennis Kish, president of EVgo, stated: "The future of EV charging is larger stall count locations, high-power charging, and designing around features that customers love – such as pull-through access, canopies and convenient amenities. Through this next evolution of EVgo and GM’s esteemed collaboration, the future of EV charging is here."
The first flagship location is expected to open in 2025. These new stations will often use EVgo’s prefabrication method to speed up construction times and offer modularity for future expansions.
Commitment to Customer Satisfaction
Wade Sheffer, Vice President of GM Energy, emphasised the importance of providing seamless access to reliable charging: "Ensuring that our customers have seamless access to convenient and reliable charging is imperative, and this effort will take it to the next level." He added that collaborations with industry leaders like EVgo help innovate and expand customer-centric charging solutions nationwide.
In addition to building flagship locations, EVgo and GM are continuing their efforts to expand their metropolitan charging network. The companies plan to install a total of 2,850 DC fast charging stalls. Funding has been reallocated to enhance the premium charging experiences at these flagship sites.
Milestones in Charging Network Expansion
The companies celebrated the opening of their 1,000th fast charging stall in August 2023. They aim to reach their 2,000th stall by the end of 2024. This milestone marks significant progress in their mission to provide widespread access to fast-charging infrastructure for electric vehicle drivers.
EVgo operates one of the largest public fast-charging networks in the U.S., with over 1,000 locations across more than 35 states. Their network includes stations built through EVgo eXtend™, a white-label service offering designed for various partners such as automakers and retail hosts.
