EVgo And General Motors Achieve Milestone With Over 2,000 Public Fast Charging Stalls Across The U.S.
EVgo Inc. and General Motors have significantly increased their fast-charging network, surpassing 2,000 public fast charging stalls through their collaboration. This expansion aims to enhance access to electric vehicle charging in various locations like grocery stores and city centres, especially for those unable to charge at home or work. The companies have established these stalls across 390 sites in 45 metropolitan areas within 32 states.
The partnership between EVgo and GM has set a target of completing 2,850 DC fast charging stalls nationwide. This includes 400 public fast charging stalls at key destinations in major metropolitan areas such as Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New York, and Texas. In August 2023, they celebrated the opening of their 1,000th stall in Woodbridge, Illinois, continuing their momentum into 2024 by doubling their footprint.

The newly opened station with the 2,000th stall is located off Interstate 215 in Murrieta, California. It features five 350kW fast chargers that can serve up to ten vehicles simultaneously. This site offers nearby amenities like retail shopping and dining options and received funding from the California Energy Commission's FAST program.
Dennis Kish, President of EVgo, expressed excitement over reaching this milestone. He stated: "EVgo’s longstanding collaboration with GM has helped us bring public charging to communities in more than 30 states across the U.S., and as we work to deploy our first flagship destinations next year, we are thrilled to celebrate today’s milestone of reaching 2,000 fast charging stalls built through this program."
Wade Sheffer from GM highlighted their commitment to enhancing the EV driving experience by expanding the fast-charging infrastructure. He said: "Our collaboration with EVgo underscores our dedication to providing EV drivers with the best possible experience by expanding fast charging infrastructure across the country."
