Elegant 1931 Cadillac 452A Named Best Of Show At The Greenwich Concours D'Elegance

Over 12,000 automotive enthusiasts and residents gathered in Greenwich, Connecticut for the 28th annual Greenwich Concours d'Elegance, a three-day motoring event celebrating car culture. The event showcased a wide range of vehicles and honored concours tradition while providing new experiences for enthusiasts and community members. This year's Best of Show awards went to the 1931 Cadillac 452A and the 1957 Chevrolet 210 'El Capitola'.The Best of Show Concours d'Elegance was awarded to Leigh Brent's 1931 Cadillac 452A All-Weather Phaeton. This car, part of the renowned Charles Gillet Collection, is one of only four All-Weather Phaetons known to survive. It features roll-up side glass instead of side curtains and is equipped with a rear division for chauffeur-driven rides.The Best of Show Concours de Sport was awarded to Tim McMann's 1957 Chevrolet 210 'El Capitola'. Commissioned by Don Fletcher in 1957, this car was designed and executed by Sam Barris with additional work done by Barris Kustom City. The body underwent extensive modifications, including chopping, nosing, decking, and reshaping of the fenders. Parts from various models were used, including Cessna aircraft struts on the rear fenders. The interior remains original and includes four swiveling bucket seats and a free-standing television.The weekend's events included the Concours de Sport on Saturday and the Concours d'Elegance on Sunday, each featuring over 120 cars in 18 judged classes. Notable classes included Pre- and Post-War Rolls-Royce, Muscle/Performance Cars, Supercars, Road Racing Motorcycles, Cars of the 1964 Dealerships, Porsche Carrera, and Lamborghini. Esteemed Contemporary Architect Steven Harris served as the Grand Marshal, and a panel of expert judges, including 24 youth judges, selected the winners based on design, style, and elegance.The 2024 Greenwich Concours saw impressive numbers, with over 12,000 attendees and 150 vehicles at each of the two main events. The weekend also included 935 Mobil 1 Hagerty Ride & Drive experiences and test drives of new BMW and Lucid models. Local nonprofits received $15,000 in pledged donations, and hundreds of young enthusiasts engaged with the event.Looking ahead, Hagerty Events has several upcoming moments, including RADwood NorCal in July 2024, Motorlux in August 2023, and RADwood Detroit in September 2024.
