Charge Your Electric Vehicle For Less Than £11 Monthly With Ohme's Smart Solutions

Electric vehicle (EV) drivers in the UK could charge their cars for less than £11 a month, according to Ohme, the largest dynamic smart charging company in the country. With electricity prices set to decrease from 1st July, EV owners will benefit from lower charging costs. However, even greater savings can be achieved by using a smart EV tariff with Ohme.

From 1st July, the Standard Variable Tariff will drop to 22.4p/kWh, marking the lowest price in nearly two years. This reduction allows EV drivers to save more when charging at home. A smart EV tariff like Intelligent Octopus Go could further reduce a typical EV driver’s monthly costs to just £10.63.

Ohme’s dynamic smart chargers connect with the grid in real-time, adjusting automatically to optimise charging costs by accessing the smartest, greenest, and lowest-cost energy tariffs available. "This latest reduction in electricity prices is great news for EV drivers," said David Watson, CEO of Ohme. "However, they can lower their bills further by checking if their electricity supplier offers a special tariff for EV drivers or switching to an energy provider that does."

Charging on the new Standard Variable Tariff for an average annual driving distance of 6800 miles would cost £382.50. In contrast, using a smart EV tariff like Intelligent Octopus Go would reduce this cost to just £127.50 for the same mileage. Comparatively, driving a petrol car for the same distance would exceed £1100.

Ohme is the official charger provider for several major car manufacturers including Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai in the UK. They also serve Mercedes-Benz, Polestar, and Volkswagen Group in both the UK and Ireland and are partnered with customers on the Motability scheme, which is the largest fleet operator in the UK.

Ohme has been recognised as Best Chargepoint Manufacturer at the 2024 Irish EV awards. The company was founded in 2017 and has since become a leading smart charging platform provider in the UK. Ohme offers solutions that enable consumers to charge during off-peak times, reducing both costs and environmental impact.

Award-Winning Performance

Outside investors have named Ohme as a ‘gigacorn,’ indicating its potential to eliminate one gigatonne of CO2 from the atmosphere annually. The company has also passed rigorous industry standard certifications for ISO 9001 and ISO 27001, ensuring quality processes and information security.

Ohme continues to expand its partnerships with housing developers such as Harron Homes and Hollins Homes. Their dynamic smart charging system caters not only to individual consumers but also businesses and fleets.

The upcoming reduction in electricity prices presents an excellent opportunity for EV drivers to save on their charging costs significantly. By leveraging smart tariffs and advanced charging solutions offered by companies like Ohme, drivers can enjoy substantial financial benefits while contributing positively to environmental sustainability.
