EBay Launches 2024 Van Conversion Awards: £10K Prize For Best UK Fit-Out
eBay has announced the return of its Van Conversion of the Year Awards for a second year, with entries now open. TV presenter and architect George Clarke will assist in the search for the best trade transformations and chic campervan conversions.
The competition, inspired by last year's entries, includes a bespoke conversion by eBay itself. This project is based on a classic Ford Transit Mk1, named the eBay Lounge. The overall winner will receive £10,000 in cash, while runners-up and category winners will get £250 worth of eBay coupons.
eBay's Van Conversion of the Year Awards aim to celebrate the most beautifully executed, space-efficient, and intelligent Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) conversions in the UK. The online marketplace is looking for top-notch fit-outs across various industry sectors. From bespoke racking in an electrician’s van to a plumber's shelving or even a holidaymaker’s dream camper, all van converters are encouraged to participate.
Entries are open until 23:59 on Sunday, 11th August. Winners will be announced in September. Last year's winner was Paul White, who transformed an old ambulance into a mobile bar named AmBEERlance during Covid lockdowns to serve his customers.
This year’s judging panel includes George Clarke as head judge. He is joined by Peter Stevens, who designed the exterior of the iconic McLaren F1 and conceptualised the eBay Lounge. Laura Richards, Category Lead for Vehicle Parts and Accessories at eBay, completes the panel.
George Clarke expressed his excitement about this year's competition: "We were hugely inspired by the conversions we saw last year... I know how incredibly fun and rewarding the whole process can be... It is fantastic to see [eBay] recognising and championing van converters."

The classic Ford Transit Mk1 converted by eBay serves as an example of what can be achieved with imagination and skill. Previously owned by a German fire department, it has been transformed into a multi-purpose vehicle suitable for both entertaining and relaxing.
