EBay Makes Its First Hillclimb At Goodwood Festival With TV Star George Clarke

eBay is set to participate in the Goodwood Festival of Speed’s iconic hillclimb for the first time this year. The event will feature TV presenter and architect George Clarke driving a converted 1975 Mk1 Ford Transit, known as the eBay Lounge, up the famous Hill on Thursday, 11th July.

The eBay Lounge, a 1975 Mk1 Ford Transit, was designed with the help of Peter Stevens, the designer of the McLaren F1. It has been restored using period-correct running gear, brakes, and suspension sourced from eBay. The interior has undergone extensive changes to function as a pop-up eBay Store and event support vehicle.

Visitors to the festival can explore the eBay Garage, an interactive stand space designed to immerse attendees in the world of vehicle parts and accessories. This year’s eBay Garage aims to ignite the DIY spirit with talks on the eBay Live Stage featuring content creators and restorers like Becky Evans, Mat Armstrong, and Workshop Diaries presenter Edd China.

The eBay Garage will also offer various experiences, including an Order Point where visitors can check out parts that fit their vehicles. Attendees can participate in games such as the eBay Assured Fit Challenge, where they compete to fit all the right parts on a car. Winners have a chance to receive exclusive eBay merchandise and goodies.

eBay’s Certified Recycled programme offers peace of mind for those interested in buying second-hand parts. All items are inspected, warrantied, and sourced from end-of-life vehicles by approved suppliers. This programme caters to individuals looking to restore vehicles or embrace eBay’s DIY spirit.

This year, eBay has reinvented its award-winning stand from last year and will host interactive competitions and talks by professional drivers and automotive experts. The eBay ‘Garage’ at Goodwood Festival of Speed aims to inspire attendees with its DIY spirit and is located next to Future Lab presented by Randox.
