Sustainability Meets Security: Dubai Police Gets A Tesla Cybertruck
From Ferraris and Lamborghinis to the all-electric Tesla Cybertruck, Dubai Police's fleet is nothing short of impressive.
The Cybertruck joins a garage that already boasts a Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S, Ferrari FF, Bugatti Veyron, and Lamborghini Aventador. This addition highlights Dubai's commitment to ecological sustainability and advanced technology.

Tesla Cybertruck: To Serve and Protect
The Dubai Police recently shared images of the Tesla Cybertruck in its official green and white colours. It was seen escorting Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The Cybertruck led the way ahead of a Mercedes-AMG G63.
On their official X profile, Dubai Police posted, "The Dubai Police General Command has added the Tesla Cybertruck, the modern electric car with a futuristic design, to its tourist police luxury patrol fleet." Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, responded with "Cool" and an emoji with sunglasses.
Remembering the 2019 Unveiling
Many may recall that in 2019, Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck. Shortly after, the Dubai Police Force posted on social media that the truck would join their fleet by 2020. They even uploaded a rendered image of the Cybertruck in their official colours.
Why the Cybertruck?
Dubai is known for its luxurious and cutting-edge technology. The Cybertruck's unique, geometric design makes a statement and fits the city's image. The Cybertruck features a durable stainless steel body shell, reducing damage in accidents. Reports suggest it will also have bulletproof windows. It comes with air suspension and three power options. The entry-level model is rear-wheel-drive with a single motor.
The dual-motor all-wheel-drive version offers a range of over 750 km. The tri-motor trim accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and has a range of over 700 km. Its payload capacity stands at 1,133 kg, and it can tow up to 5,000 kg. It also boasts a ground clearance of 406 mm.
Dubai is looking towards a more sustainable future. The Cybertruck being fully electric aligns with this goal, reducing emissions compared to traditional gasoline-powered police vehicles. On top of this, the Cybertruck boasts impressive performance, with a fast acceleration time and a long range. This could be beneficial for pursuits or highway patrol duties.

Finally, Dubai is a hub for innovation. Having a Cybertruck in the police fleet highlights their interest in staying at the forefront of technological advancements.
DriveSpark Thinks
According to Tesla's website, the Cybertruck's price ranges from Rs 48 lakh to Rs 81 lakh in the USA. The price variation is due to the different models available, with the single motor rear-wheel-drive being the least expensive and the tri-motor all-wheel-drive being the most expensive.
However, it's important to note that the Cybertruck might not be ideal for all police work. Its size and turning radius could make it less maneuverable in tight spaces compared to a sedan. Additionally, the cargo bed might not be as practical for everyday police needs as a trunk in a traditional patrol car.
Overall, the Cybertruck seems to be more of a pilot program for the Dubai police, showcasing their interest in sustainable technology and maintaining a futuristic image.
