Start Your Engines... The Donington Historic Festival Is Nearly Here
Donington Park is set to become the epicentre of classic motorsport on 4 and 5 May, as it hosts the Donington Historic Festival (DHF) 2024. This event, a cornerstone of the classic motorsport calendar, attracts hundreds of historic racing cars, ranging from pre-War sportscars to iconic Touring Cars of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. The festival is not just a race; it's a celebration of motorsport history, with a packed schedule that promises non-stop action and entertainment for families and enthusiasts alike.
The festival distinguishes itself with a variety of races, including three dedicated to Ferraris, showcasing competitive driving that belies the age and rarity of these vehicles. Each day offers a unique mix of classic motor racing, featuring two-driver races that necessitate pit stops and driver changes, adding an extra layer of excitement for spectators.

A highlight of this year's festival is the centenary celebration of Bentley's first victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Significant historic racing machines from Bentley, including the 2003 Speed 8 chassis 004/1 and the 2000 EXP Speed 8 Le Mans GT prototype chassis 002/1, will be on display during lunchtime track parades. Additionally, car clubs will showcase 100 classic and collectors’ cars, with special tributes to Ayrton Senna through Honda NSXs and the 60th anniversary of the Ford Mustang.
Adding to the spectacle are flypasts from a Spitfire and Hurricane from the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Off-track attractions include Q&A sessions with motorsport legends such as 2003 Le Mans-winning Bentley driver Guy Smith and Touring Car champions Rob Huff and Colin Turkington. Festival attendees can also enjoy an open-access race paddock, historic Bentley displays, trade stands, and an art exhibition featuring leading motoring and motorsport artists.
The Donington Historic Festival is more than just a racing event; it's an immersive experience that brings together the past and present of motorsport. With advance discount tickets available until 4pm on Thursday, 2 May, enthusiasts are encouraged to secure their spot for this unparalleled celebration of racing history.
