Dodge Charger Daytona Introduces Revolutionary Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust System
Dodge has unveiled the final performance characteristics of the new Dodge Charger Daytona’s Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust system. This announcement was made during a press conference preview for the Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge event. The innovative system redefines expectations for battery-electric vehicles by delivering a distinctive rumble and tactile sound wave output, which will be featured in the all-electric 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T and Scat Pack models.
Matt McAlear, CEO of the Dodge brand at Stellantis, stated, "The world’s first Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust brings the raw rumble of iconic Dodge muscle to the next-generation, all-electric Dodge Charger Daytona." He added that this system provides the visceral feel that Dodge enthusiasts expect from their muscle cars. "Simply put, when you hear it and feel it, you will know it’s a Dodge Charger Daytona," McAlear emphasized.
The Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust system is equipped with dual bespoke high-efficiency transducers and dual passive radiators. These components are housed in a custom enclosure powered by an amplifier with up to 600 watts. This setup generates a deep rumble and visceral feel that aligns with Dodge's DNA. Four elastomer isolator bushings support the system, enhancing its performance profile.
This exhaust system incorporates driver and vehicle inputs like accelerator pedal position, speed, and torque output to deliver signature performance tones. The sounds provide essential feedback to drivers, especially at high speeds or on tracks. Different modes offer varying sound outputs: Sport Mode has medium sound, while Drag, Drift, Donut, and Track Modes deliver louder roars. A silent Stealth Mode is also available via the Charger Daytona’s 12.3-inch central touchscreen.
The all-new Dodge Charger will make its public debut at the annual Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge horsepower festival on August 10 at M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan. This event marks the ninth year of the festival and will showcase the future of Dodge's muscle cars.
The Fratzonic name draws inspiration from Dodge’s historic Fratzog logo, now symbolising next-generation vehicles. The prototype version of this exhaust system was first teased in August 2022 with the reveal of the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept. Since then, Dodge has fine-tuned its performance notes to lock in the unique personality of the new Charger.
