As of now, Tata Altroz Racer and Hyundai i20 N Line are the only hot hatchbacks sold in India. The Indian automotive market has seen significant growth. Hot hatch culture is slowly gaining attention from OEMs. We now have the Hyundai i20 N Line and Tata's Altroz Racer. Here’s a list of notable hot hatches that are no longer available.
Fiat Abarth Punto
Fiat Abarth Punto is the most powerful mainstream hot hatch launched in India. It featured a 1.4L T-Jet engine with 148 PS and 212 Nm. Key attributes included red racing stripes, scorpion decals, scorpion-style wheels, and all-four disc brakes. It could sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 8.8 seconds.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS
Globally, Suzuki offers the Swift Sport, but India got the Baleno RS. It had a 1.0L 3-cylinder Boosterjet engine generating 100 bhp and 150 Nm, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Features included a sportier bumper and all-four disc brakes. It achieved 0-100 km/h in under 10 seconds.
Volkswagen Polo GT TSI
The Volkswagen Polo GT TSI is perhaps the most celebrated hot hatch in India. It had a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 110 PS and 175 Nm. The car came with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It had a 0-100 km/h time of under 10 seconds.

Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS Turbo
The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS Turbo was a trim-level hot hatch. It featured a 1.0L turbo petrol engine generating 100 PS and 172 Nm, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It was the most affordable turbo petrol hatchback in India, with a 0-100 km/h time of under 10 seconds.
Tata Tiago JTP
The Tata Tiago JTP was marketed as a proper hot hatch alongside the Tigor JTP. It had a turbocharged engine from the Nexon, producing 114 PS and 150 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Tiago JTP featured red exterior highlights and mechanical tuning by Jayem Automotives. It could achieve 0-100 km/h in just over 10 seconds.

Ford Figo S (Sports Edition)
The Ford Figo S didn’t have a re-tuned powertrain but featured a 90 PS 1.2L engine and a 100 PS 1.5L diesel unit. It had a black grill, smoked headlights, black roof, wheels, and sportier suspension. Interestingly, the diesel version was quicker, with a 0-100 km/h time of around 10 seconds.
