Top Diesel SUVs Launched In The First Half Of 2024: The Mile Munchers
Diesel vehicles may not be as popular as they once were, but they still present in the market. Surprisingly, numerous diesel cars have been launched across various price segments in the first half of 2024. Here is a comprehensive list of diesel SUVs that have been introduced during this period.
Hyundai Creta
The long-awaited second-generation update for the Hyundai Creta arrived at the beginning of the year. It features a 1.5-litre-cylinder diesel engine producing 113bhp/250Nm, available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed torque converter AT.

The diesel range starts with the base-level E variant and goes up to the SX (O) trim, which includes Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, connected car technology, and dual-zone climate control.
Force Gurkha
The Force Gurkha also received a much-needed update, including the introduction of a five-door model for the first time. This mid-life facelift brought interior upgrades and new exterior elements while retaining the same 2.6-litre diesel engine producing 138bhp/320Nm.

The engine is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and full-time 4WD with shift on the fly. The automaker has addressed rumours of an AT option but has not provided a timeline for its release.

Mahindra XUV 3XO
Replacing the XUV300, the highly anticipated Mahindra XUV 3XO compact SUV is available with both petrol and diesel engines. The diesel option is a 1.5-litre unit producing 115bhp/300Nm and can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed AMT. Diesel-powered models come with features like ventilated seats and Level 2 ADAS – a first in this segment.

Kia Sonet
Kia began the year by launching a facelifted Sonet, which we exclusively showcased before its release. The cabin and feature list have been upgraded, and it continues to offer two petrol engines and one diesel engine – the same one used in the Creta, producing 113bhp/250Nm. Unlike its Hyundai counterpart, it can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed AT.

Mahindra Bolero Neo+
Mahindra introduced the Bolero Neo+ as their final budget offering on our list. It's an LWB version of the Bolero Neo and comes equipped with a new 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. This rear-wheel-drive powertrain produces 118bhp and 280Nm of peak torque.
