One-Off Dacia Duster Soul of Dakar Concept Revealed - The Everyday Sandrider
Dacia, the low-cost Romanian car brand Renault owns, has revealed the Duster Soul of Dakar concept SUV. The on-off Dacia Duster Soul of Dakar celebrates the carmaker's entry into the infamous Dakar Rally that kicks off in Saudi Arabia on the 3rd of January.
The Dacia Duster Soul of Dakar concept car takes its inspiration from the Dacia Sandrider prototype car that the Romanian marque will be racing at the 47th Dakar Rally. The Soul of Dakar concept takes quite a few inspirations from the Sandrider which will also be competing in the 2025 World Rally Raid Championship.
Dacia will be fielding three Sandriders for the 2025 Dakar Rally. The three prototypes will be driven by five-time Dakar Rally winner Nasser Al-Attiyah, nine-time WRC champion Sebastien Loeb and Dakar veteran Cristina Gutierrez Herrero, who last year became just the second woman to win in a category (Challenger) of the Dakar.
The Dacia Duster Soul of Dakar takes quite a few of its cues from the Sandriders rally raid prototype. The one-off features include the bespoke livery inspired by the style and colours of the Sandrider, created by Dacia's style centre.
Other highlights are from the firm's InNature range include the roof box with rails that you can reposition, a shovel, a waterproof duffel bag and a weatherproof glove box. The interior features a host of the firm's YouClip accessories that include several light points, phone and tablet holders, bag hooks and cup holders.
The Sandrider prototype that will be racing in Dakar is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 engine that kicks out 360bhp and 539Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed sequential gearbox and four-wheel drive.
The Duster Soul of Dakar concept, on the other hand, draws power from 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system and a 4x4 setup that can split power evenly between both axles with the Lock setting on its rotary-dial-style off-road driving mode selector.
