CUPRA Teams Up With Sennheiser For Revolutionary In-Car Audio Experience

The CUPRA Tavascan merges design and performance to enhance driving pleasure. The CUPRA sound team aimed to create a unique audio experience, partnering with Sennheiser to develop an immersive sound system. José Luis Álvarez from CUPRA and Sofia Checa from Sennheiser share insights into this collaboration.

Sofia Checa views the partnership as logical since both brands are disruptors in their fields. She states, "We’re not afraid of doing things differently." The result is an audio system that envelops occupants in an immersive and customisable experience.

The system analyses musical components like instruments, voices, and room information in real-time. Sofia explains, "From there, it redistributes them throughout the car while enhancing the original artistic intentions." Users can choose their sound experience on a scale from 0 to 3 levels of immersion.

José Luis emphasises that CUPRA prioritises the driver but also considers passengers. He notes, "The sound can be adjusted manually or automatically, focusing on different occupants with modes like Music, Speech or Club."

Tailored Sound Solutions

CUPRA and Sennheiser integrated 12 hi-fi speakers and developed a proprietary algorithm for the ideal formula. This tailored approach was necessary due to varying car shapes and cabin layouts affecting acoustics. Sofia mentions that each solution was customised for different models.

The sound team at CUPRA has worked extensively to offer top-notch audio across all cars. Sofia adds, "The sound we hear inside the CUPRA Tavascan was specifically designed for this model."

CUPRA's Growing Legacy

CUPRA launched in 2018 as an unconventional brand combining emotion, electrification, and performance. It has rapidly grown in Europe with a global network of specialised sales points. In 2023, CUPRA delivered over 230,000 vehicles worldwide.

Each new model launch defines the brand’s character further. Notable models include the CUPRA Ateca, Leon (first electrified model), Formentor (best-selling vehicle), and Born (first 100% electric vehicle).

Sporting Partnerships

CUPRA partners with FC Barcelona as its official automotive and mobility partner. It also sponsors the World Padel Tour and eSports Club Finetwork KOI. Additionally, CUPRA participates in Formula E racing competition.

The CUPRA Tribe

The CUPRA Tribe consists of ambassadors driving change. Members include film director J.A. Bayona, Formula E driver Lucas Di Grassi, Street Artist TvBoy, Olympic gold medalists Adam Peaty and Saul Craviotto, goalkeeper Marc ter Stegen, and footballer Alexia Putellas.
