Coppa Delle Alpi 2024 Ends With Celebratory Event In Courmayeur

The Grand Alpine Journey of the Coppa delle Alpi by 1000 Miglia 2024 concluded on 4 May 2024, marking the end of a spectacular tour that spanned 1600 kilometres across the Alpine ridge. This unique event saw 30 competing crews navigate through 90 Time Trials and 18 Average Trials, traversing all seven countries within the macro-region. The competition culminated in a prize-giving ceremony at 9.30 a.m., where Stefano Ginesi and Susanna Rohr, driving a 1934 Fiat 508 S Balilla, were declared the winners. They were closely followed by the Belgian team Decremer-Mertens in a 1951 Aston Martin Db2, with Carrara and Consoli securing third place in their 1953 Jaguar XK 120 Ots.

Following the awards, a Final Conference was held to discuss the thematic journey of the event. Alberto Piantoni, CEO of 1000 Miglia Srl, highlighted the project's aim to bridge classic cars with sustainability discussions. He emphasized the initiative's success in fostering a network among Alpine communities, showcasing their values through the lens of automotive masterpieces. The conference delved into two main topics: "Traces of place consciousness and good practices in the Alpine platform" and "Scenarios and the great challenges of the Alpine platform".

The event not only celebrated automotive heritage but also sparked conversations on sustainability and community values within the Alpine region. The towns involved showed great enthusiasm, even opening their pedestrian centers to accommodate this unique blend of history and modernity. Despite its success, this edition of the Coppa delle Alpi will remain unique, with plans to return to its winter schedule in 2025. However, the Think Tank aspect of the event will continue independently, inspired by the lasting impressions of landscapes, voices, and values witnessed during this journey. A poignant image that remains with participants is that of the mer de glace from Refuge Montenvers, a stark reminder of the urgent need for environmental awareness.

The Coppa delle Alpi by 1000 Miglia 2024 has thus not only been a celebration of automotive history but also a platform for important discussions on sustainability within the Alpine communities. As this chapter closes with an eye towards future events, it leaves behind a legacy of awareness and connection among diverse regions and cultures.
