Compact SUV Market In India Sees Remarkable Growth In June 2024
The compact SUV segment in India saw significant growth in June 2024, with total sales reaching 42,495 units. This marked an 18.68% increase from the 35,805 units sold in June 2023.
The Hyundai Creta led the segment with 16,293 units sold, up from 14,447 units last year, reflecting a growth of 12.78%. The Creta held a commanding market share of 38.34%.
Maruti Grand Vitara followed closely with sales of 9,679 units. Despite a slight decline of 7.70% from the previous year's 10,486 units, it maintained a substantial market share of 22.78%.
The Kia Seltos experienced remarkable growth, selling 6,306 units compared to last year's 3,578 units, marking a significant increase of 76.24%.
Compact SUV Sales Performance
Toyota HyRyder also showed impressive growth with sales of 4,275 units in June 2024, up by 51.54% from the previous year's 2,821 units.
It captured a notable market share of 10.06%. Honda Elevate entered the market with sales of 2,151 units, securing a market share of 5.06%.
Volkswagen Taigun reported modest growth with sales of 1,519 units in June 2024 compared to last year's 1,449 units, reflecting a growth rate of 4.83%.
Skoda Kushaq faced challenges with sales dropping to 1,198 units from last year's 2,133 units, marking a decline of 43.83%. MG Astor recorded slight growth with sales increasing to 938 units from last year's 891 units.
Month-on-Month Sales Analysis
On a month-to-month basis, the compact SUV segment grew by 5%. Hyundai Creta's sales increased by 11.12%, reaching 16,293 units in June from May's figure of 14,662 units. Maruti Grand Vitara's sales remained stable at around the same level as May's figure.
Kia Seltos saw a slight decline in monthly sales from May's figure of 6,736 to June's figure of 6,306 units. Toyota HyRyder continued its upward trend with an increase in sales to reach a total of 4,275 units in June compared to May's figure of 3,906.
Honda Elevate showed substantial monthly growth with sales rising by an impressive rate to reach a total of 2,151 units in June compared to May’s figure of just over half that amount at around the mid-1500s mark.
Volkswagen Taigun experienced a marginal decline in monthly sales figures falling slightly from May’s total while Skoda Kushaq saw minor improvement month-on-month rising slightly above its previous month's figures.
MG Astor faced a decrease in monthly figures falling slightly below its previous month's total while Citroen C3 Aircross showed positive growth increasing its monthly figures slightly above its previous month's total.
