Buxton To Host No-Reserve Auction Of Over 50 Classic Cars
Classic car enthusiasts have a unique chance to acquire potential bargains at the upcoming H&H Classics auction. Over 50 cars will be offered without reserve at Pavilion Gardens, Buxton, on 24 July. The diverse collection includes vehicles from a 1929 Armstrong Siddeley 15hp Coachbuilt Saloon to a 2005 Renault Mégane Renault Sport 225.
The auction also features an extensive collection from the estate of David Lucas, a renowned motor engineer and car club member. Lucas’ collection, amassed since the early 1970s, includes over 40 cars, commercial vehicles, and tractors. Notable items include a 1964 Triumph Herald Coupe and a 1956 Austin A40 Countryman.
Damian Jones, director at H&H Classics, commented on the sale's atmosphere: "Our Buxton sales always have a fantastic atmosphere, but we are expecting our next auction to be at an entirely new level given the number of no reserve cars being offered." He added that the sale offers something for everyone, from concours standard cars to modern hot hatches.
The highest estimate in the sale is for a 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL, valued between £100,000-120,000. This car has been in its current ownership for 50 years and underwent extensive restoration between 2014 and 2016. It was once owned by speedway rider Taffy Owen and features the historic ‘TAF 32’ number plate.
A matching-numbers UK-market 1958 Jaguar XK150SE 3.4 Litre Drophead Coupe is also up for grabs with an estimate of £80,000-100,000. Another highlight is a stalled-restoration project: a 1967 Aston Martin DB6 estimated between £80,000-100,000. Although much work has been done on this car, it remains disassembled but comes with many extra parts ready for completion.
Away from these high-end classics, one of the best MkII Ford Zephyrs is available with an estimate of £22,000-26,000. This car was restored over three years to a very high standard and has covered fewer than 3,000 miles since its restoration.
Viewing and Bidding Details
An exceptionally original condition MG RV8 from 1995 is also part of the sale. Estimated between £28,000-32,000, this car has only covered 2,300Km since new. Imported from Japan in 2015 and part of a private collection until recently, it is one of only 258 in Oxford Blue and has been mechanically refreshed.
All lots will be available for viewing at Pavilion Gardens from midday on 23 July. The auction itself starts at 1pm on the following day. Interested bidders can participate in person or online or place bids by telephone or commission bid.
