Citroen Basalt: Choosing The Best Value Variant
The Citroen Basalt made its debut in India a few months ago, generating significant excitement. This model was introduced as the most budget-friendly coupe SUV in the country. Priced initially at Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom), it directly competes with Tata Curvv, another coupe SUV. The Citroen Basalt's price can go up to Rs 13.83 lakh (ex-showroom).
Citroen Basalt: Engine Options and Features
Previously, the coupe SUV style was mainly seen in luxury cars. However, Citroen Basalt has made this design accessible to Indian buyers. It offers two petrol engine options: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine and a 1.2-litre turbocharged motor. The naturally aspirated version is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, while the turbo-petrol variant offers both a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission.

The entry-level variant of Citroen Basalt is named You, starting at Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It features halogen headlamps, integrated turn indicators on the front fender, chrome grille inserts, side body cladding, and 16-inch steel wheels. Inside, it includes fabric upholstery, front power windows, a 12V power socket at the front, manual air-conditioning, and integrated headrests for both rows.
Citroen Basalt: Plus Variant Details
The mid-range variant is called Plus and starts at Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom), with prices reaching up to Rs 12.79 lakh (ex-showroom). In addition to the features found in the You trim, Plus includes LED daytime running lamps, body-coloured door handles, ORVM-mounted turn indicators, electronically adjustable and folding ORVMs, and wheel arch cladding.
Inside the Plus variant's cabin are a dual-tone dashboard, adjustable headrests for both front and rear seats, a rear seat centre armrest with cupholders, parcel shelf, front USB port, height-adjustable driver seat, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, all four power windows and central locking.
Citroen Basalt: Max Variant Highlights
The top-tier Max variant ranges from Rs 12.28 lakh to Rs 13.83 lakh (ex-showroom). It includes all features from lower trims but adds 16-inch alloy wheels and shark fin antenna outside. Inside enhancements include leather-wrapped steering wheel and semi-leatherette seat upholstery.
Max also boasts connected car technology along with winged headrests at the rear and a boot lamp for added convenience. Safety-wise it comes equipped with a rear-view camera enhancing overall security measures.
Choosing the Best Value Trim
The You trim suits those on tight budgets seeking an upgrade from hatchbacks while considering Citroen Basalt's appeal. Meanwhile Plus offers balanced amenities alongside varied engine-transmission combinations making it highly value-for-money oriented.
Though Max appears more premium than Plus due to additional features like leatherette seats or connected tech; these extras might not justify extra cost unless prioritising luxury over savings.
