Citroen Basalt SUV Revealed In India – Launch Details & More
Citroen has revealed the all-new Basalt SUV Coupe in India. According to the French automaker, the Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe is set to hit the Indian roads by the second half of 2024.
According to Citroen, the Basalt SUV Coupe combines the fluidity and dynamism of a Coupé, the advantages and robustness of an elevated SUV, and the balance and spaciousness of a 5-door saloon.

When launched, the Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe will be positioned to take on C-segment SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, and a few more. Despite the strong competition, we expect the Basalt to stand out, thanks to its unique styling.
Speaking about the styling, the upcoming Citroen Basalt looks rugged yet athletic, thanks to its coupe-like roofline. On the other hand, the SUV characteristics are further enhanced by a tall bonnet, squared wheel arches, and all-around black cladding.

It is also worth mentioning that the Citroen Basalt SUV features plenty of premium bits. This includes LED headlamps, LED taillamps, sharkfin antenna, and large 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
However, looking at the images of the Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe, it looks like the model will not feature a sunroof. This is a glaring omission considering the battle in the C-segment SUV category is fierce.

That being said, Citroen is yet to release the interior images, feature list and powertrain options of the upcoming Basalt SUV Coupe. However, one of the images of the Basalt SUV Coupe revealed the silhouette of the infotainment unit.
This silhouette of the infotainment unit in the Citroen Basalt looks very similar to the one in the Citroen C3 Aircross SUV. As such, it is safe to say that both models will share similar-looking interiors.
However, given the premium positioning of the Citroen Basalt SUV, we expect the model to come with more features. In fact, expect features such as ventilated front seats, wireless charging pad, electrically adjustable driver seat, automatic climate control, auto headlamps and wipers, and a few more.
We also expect the Citroen Basalt to sport the same powertrain as the Citroen C3 Aircross SUV. Moreover, we also expect to see the automatic variant of the Citroen Basalt Vision at the launch of the model.
This 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol engine is tuned to produce 108.4bhp and 190Nm of torque (torque jumps to 205Nm in the automatic variant). Also, gearbox options include a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic unit.
Though the price of the new Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe is yet to be announced, we expect the model to be priced around Rs 50,000 more than the equivalent variant of the C3 Aircross SUV.
It is also worth mentioning that the higher-spec variant of the all-new Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe comes with sporty-looking 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels wrapped in 205/50 tyres. We expect these lower-profile tyres to boost the sporty character of the model.
Thoughts About The New Citroen Basalt
The Citroen Basalt is an unique-looking model in its category and it definitely stands out from the current crop of SUVs in its segment. However, to be successful, Citroen has to make sure the model offers good features while undercutting its primary competitors.
