Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe Top-Spec Variant Price Leaked In India: Undercuts Many Rivals
The French carmaker Citroen has introduced the Basalt with a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh (Ex-showroom, introductory). Though Citroen has not revealed prices of other variants, recently a glitch in Citroen seems to have revealed the price of the top-spec variant.
According to Citroen India's official website, the top-spec Turbo AT Max variant is priced at Rs 13.57 lakh (ex-showroom). This price was shared on Instagram by 'throttlepilot'. This aggressive pricing strategy aims to undercut competitors in the Indian market, including some sub-4m SUVs like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, which starts at Rs 8.34 lakh (Ex-showroom).
Despite its competitive pricing, Citroen Basalt faces challenges in terms of features and equipment. While it introduces several new features to Citroen's lineup, it lacks many amenities found in rival models. Missing features include auto-dimming IRVM, cornering lights, LED tail lights, keyless entry, push-button start, and India's favourite panoramic sunroof.
The top-end variant of the Citroen Basalt is the 1.2P Turbo AT Max, priced at Rs 13.57 lakh (Ex-showroom, introductory). This price point still undercuts many competitors in the compact SUV segment and even some sub-4m SUVs. The Basalt offers a size advantage with one of the longest wheelbases in its class and substantial boot space.
However, when compared to its sibling C3 Aircross, the Basalt misses out on rear washer and wiper due to its coupe roofline and offers smaller 16-inch alloy wheels with lower ground clearance.
Additionally, it lacks front parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, ADAS features, telescopic steering adjustment, passive boot opening, cooled glovebox, powered driver's seat, ventilated seats, navigation in instrument screen, electric tailgate, rear disc brakes, flush door handles, auto headlights and rain-sensing wipers.
Even though Citroen packs quite a few goodies into the Basalt model such as LED projector headlights and auto climate control among others; it still lacks a few equipment and features list.
That being said, some of the noticeable features include semi-leatherette seats with under-thigh adjustment for rear passengers along with electrically folding ORVMs and front/rear armrests.
