Citroen Basalt Achieves 4-Star Safety Rating In Bharat NCAP Crash Tests
The Citroen Basalt has achieved a noteworthy accomplishment by earning a four-star safety rating in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) crash tests. Conducted in August, the evaluation focused on the top-spec Turbo Max variant of the vehicle, revealing its robust safety standards through various assessments.
Specifically, the Citroen Basalt garnered 26.19 points out of a possible 32 for Adult Occupant Protection and an impressive 35.90 points out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection, underscoring its commitment to passenger safety.
In the detailed results of the crash tests, the Citroen Basalt showed excellent performance in the side movable deformable barrier test, securing a perfect 16 out of 16 points. This result indicates superior protection for occupants during side-impact collisions.
Meanwhile, in the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the vehicle scored 10.19 points out of 16. It provided "good" protection to the head and neck of both the driver and the front passenger. However, the protection was rated as "marginal" for the driver's chest and thighs and "adequate" for the front passenger's chest, with marginal thigh protection.
For Child Occupant Protection, the Citroen Basalt excelled by securing 19.90 points out of 24 in the Dynamic score. This was achieved through the effective use of child restraint systems for an 18-month-old child and a three-year-old child, illustrating the vehicle's adaptability to safeguard younger passengers.
Safety and Engine Specifications of Citroen Basalt
The Citroen Basalt is equipped with advanced safety features, including six standard airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, three-point seatbelts for all seats, and seatbelt reminders.
