Citroen Basalt New Teaser Reveals More Tech: Digital Instrument Cluster, Infotainment, Auto Climate Control & More
Citroen is set to introduce its first coupe SUV in India, named Citroen Basalt. This new model will compete with compact SUVs like the Tata Curvv, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, uti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, MG Astor, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun. The latest teaser confirms that the Basalt will feature auto climate control, a first for Citroen cars in India.
Enhanced Features For Better Comfort
The Citroen Basalt aims to enhance the comfort features compared to its predecessor, the C3 Aircross. Previous teasers have highlighted several comfort-related attributes such as front and rear armrests, side supports for headrests, and leatherette seat upholstery. These additions are expected to make the Basalt more appealing to buyers looking for a comfortable ride.

On the exterior, the Basalt will sport a projector headlight setup likely illuminated by LEDs instead of halogens. This is an upgrade from the C3 Aircross which lacked this feature. The new teaser reveals even more interior features that were missing in the C3 Aircross.
Advanced Climate Control
The introduction of auto climate control in the Citroen Basalt should attract mainstream compact SUV buyers. Auto climate AC is a standard feature in most compact SUVs today. Additionally, the Basalt might include roof-mounted AC vents similar to those found in the C3 Aircross, distinguishing it from other SUVs that typically have floor-mounted vents.
Other confirmed features include stylish alloy wheels believed to be 17-inchers, a fully digital instrument cluster with a tachometer, and a 10.2-inch infotainment screen supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. These features aim to provide a modern and connected driving experience.
Potential Additional Features
Citroen might also offer other desirable features such as auto-dimming IRVMs (Interior Rear View Mirrors), keyless entry, push-button start, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and six airbags as standard. Although sunroofs are not essential for Indian buyers, offering them in higher trims could boost sales.
The powertrain of the Citroen Basalt is expected to retain the 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine from the C3 Aircross. This engine delivers 110 PS of peak power and 190 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will likely include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic torque converter from Aisin.
A competitive starting price of Rs 10 lakh could significantly enhance Citroen Basalt's market appeal and sales performance. That being said, the Citroen Basalt is poised to make a strong entry into India's compact SUV segment with its enhanced features and competitive pricing strategy.
