Citroen Basalt India Unveil On August 2 – Tata Curvv Rival To Be Launched Very Soon
The Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe is one of the most awaited models in India. Now, Citroen India is set to unveil the model on August 2. Moreover, we expect the French automaker to reveal the price of the model in the coming weeks.
The design of the Citroen Basalt is one of its unique highlights as the model flaunts a Coupe-like design with a sloping roofline. This is quite similar to the upcoming Tata Curvv SUV and looks sporty yet purposeful.

Some of the design highlights of the Citroen Basalt SUV coupe include projector LED headlamps, flip-type door handles, 360-degree plastic cladding, shark-fin antenna, and a few more interesting design elements.
When Citroen earlier revealed the exterior of the upcoming Basalt SUV Coupe, some interesting details were noted by the DriveSpark Team. This includes the fitment of the rear parking sensors and tyre dimensions.
According to the official images by Citroen, the upcoming Indian-spec version of the SUV Coupe comes equipped with attractive-looking 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels wrapped in 205/50 Bridgestone Turanza tyres.

In comparison, the outgoing Citroen C3 Aircross SUV comes with 215/60 R17 tyres. This means the upcoming Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe comes with slightly narrower but lower profile tyres, resulting in slightly firmer but sportier ride characteristics.
It is also noted that, unlike the Citroen C3 Aircross SUV, the upcoming Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe comes equipped with rear disc brakes. However, we are not sure if the rear disc brakes are part of the standard equipment or limited to just the higher-spec variant.
Though Citroen is yet to officially reveal the interiors of the upcoming Basalt SUV Coupe, we expect the model to sport a similar-looking interior as the Citroen C3 Aircross SUV. However, we will not be surprised if the Basalt features slightly more premium elements on the inside.

That being said, the upcoming Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe is not likely to feature a panoramic sunroof even in the top-spec offerings. However, we expect the model to come with a fully digital instrument cluster and other premium tech.
In terms of powertrain, the Citroen Basalt is likely to come with the same powertrain as the Citroen C3 Aircross SUV. Moreover, we also expect to see the automatic variant of the Citroen Basalt Vision at the launch itself.
This 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol engine is tuned to produce 108.4bhp and 190Nm of torque (torque jumps to 205Nm in the automatic variant). Also, gearbox options include a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic unit.
At present, prices for the Citroen C3 Aircross SUV starts at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), making it one of the most affordable models in its category. In contrast, we expect the upcoming Citroen Basalt SUV to be positioned as a premium offering with a higher price tag.
