Citroen Basalt: A New Contender In India's Coupe SUV Market
Citroen is preparing to launch its fifth car in India, the Basalt coupe SUV. The vehicle was recently seen testing almost undisguised, revealing several design elements. Expected to debut around the festive season, the Basalt will join Citroen's lineup alongside models like the C3, eC3, C3 Aircross, and C5 Aircross SUVs.
The rear of the Basalt SUV features an integrated spoiler and a chunky bumper with reflectors and chrome accents. The taillights are similar to those shown in March. Additional details include a shark-fin antenna, a blackened roof, and a small light on the C-pillar.

Citroen Basalt: Design and Features
The side profile of the Basalt showcases its coupe-like styling with a sloping roofline. The window line and ORVMs have a black theme. The sporty alloy wheels differ slightly from those on the C3 Aircross SUV. No images of the front section have been revealed yet, but it is expected to draw design cues from the C3 Aircross.
Underpinning the Basalt is the same platform used for the C3 and C3 Aircross. This model is part of Citroen's C-Cubed program aimed at emerging markets like India and South America. Measuring over four metres in length, it promises ample interior space for five passengers.

Citroen Basalt: Engine Specifications
The Basalt is likely to feature Citroen's 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which also powers the C3 Aircross. This engine produces 108 bhp and 205 Nm of peak torque. Both manual and automatic transmission options are expected to be available with a six-speed setup.
In terms of features, expect a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, digital driver display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a wireless charger among others. Safety features are anticipated to include six airbags as standard, ABS, EBD, ESC, reverse camera, and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Launch Timeline
The Basalt SUV was first unveiled by Citroen in March this year. It will compete with models like Tata Curvv upon its launch. The exact launch date has not been confirmed but is expected around the festive season. Overall, Citroen's upcoming Basalt SUV aims to offer a blend of style and functionality tailored for emerging markets like India.
